pdog, Need you help on an Artists Name ...from Ian

Addressed to pdog but please help if anyone can help me identify the artist:

I discovered an artist that I liked a few years ago (2005). He had a name like "Rusty Nails" or maybe "Rusted Nails"? Or possibly something with "fingers" in his title? I asked here about a year and a half ago mentioning I enjoyed this group. You corrected me and said it was not a group (although the artists name sounded as if it was a group) and that it was just one person.

Do you know what the artists name was??? I cannot think of it for the life of me. His sound was like a mellow, pretty laid back alternative sound.

Do you remember?

*We were talking about newer music and what I liked compared to you and I mentioned this artist thinking it was a group and you corrected me in saying that it was actually just one person?

Do you remember who it was?

I tried Googling it. There are at least two bands {one is a 2 person band} called "Rusted Nails", and they are both acoustic, blusey, folky, but I don't guess they are what Ian is looking for....

No Nellcoat. I never tried that. In fact I never even heard of Google...

Naturally I Googled it several ways, with several different boolean characters and none of the results, from any of those searches gave me what I was looking for.

Yes I seen them. They came up in many results on google but your right they are not what I was looking for but I do thank you. This artist was mellow, laid back and unique. Listening to him you had the feeling it was a group but he did everything on his own.

That is no prob. I run Macs (as well as PC's) here also. I am glad you at least remember this conversation. That in itself is notable. I cannot remember the name of them. You mentioned like six different groups. Then I mentioned them and you knew them and noted to me it was one guy. You enjoyed him as well. For some reason I have an push to say ... "worms" may of been involved in their title (but certainly not for sure). So "Nails", "Rusty", "worms" are words that come to mind but I cannot say for sure if any of those were in the title?

I will try to remember more. Maybe it will hit you one day. The reason I am asking is I want to hear him again and I cannot remember what he goes by.

Last night I listened to:
Brenden Benson, Marjorie Fair and have you heard of these guys ...They are called "Brand New". I also dig "CYA" pronounced See Ya. Sure most of these artists are edgeless and dreary ...heck they may even bore you a bit at times but at least it is something different. I mean, who eles am I supposed to listen to these days...Blink 182 or something....?  no thank you (no disrespect to their former drummer who is recovering from that plane accident). I already heard Metallica's Death Magnetic and i am in between waiting for AC/DC's new one. So I was looking around for some new stuff.

Ian

No. Thank you though. Interesting name. I just can't think of it. They were not huge but you know they were around a bit. No radio hits that I am aware of. The music was smooth, laid back, with a smooth bass.
"fingers", "Nails", "rusty" may of been in their title. It was a single person though.

Brendan Bensen is in The Raconteurs, I don't know his music outside of that band too well.

Here is the thing. It was a name like "rusty nails" or "can of worms" or something. Now, this is what he went by as far as a name. However it was a single person. I am sorry if I brought up all this. Don't kill yourselves everyone on trying to figure it out (unless it erks you like it does me). I listened to him in late 2005. I am not sure when he came out. The artist probably was not that old or had not been around too long.
