Maybe we are not on the same page on this particular topic directly below.
I am talking about a campaign and going totally public about their business practices, or what they believe to be ethical in terms of the public and music business, hence the whole anti-napster campaign. I am not referring to feuds.
Metallica will go down as The greatest "metal" band I suppose you could say. Sure you can make an arguement of that. What I am saying here is that when a certain status is reached by a band, or artist you simply leave them be and don't down play what they do as compared to you.
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin (to a point), Elvis Presley, Dylan, Chuck Berry are the only examples I care to mention in this league off hand. You should never compare yourselves to them and their performance, or their legacy. Why? It is not of good taste, especially when they let you open their shows last time out!!!!
Speaking of therapists, Ronnie could need one sure, I certainly bet he has one right now. However, you'll never see that on a documentary of The Stones. It would be kept quiet. The demons, or issues The Stones have encountered and that involved the group and handling success they have miraculously made it through these things themselves. Without therapy. With no therapist. Without group meetings. To note, they have been through a heck of a lot more than Metallica has. Metallica would never begin to make it over the obstacles The Stones have. They can barely manage their own inner security's and minor conflicts as it is. So lets not go onto all that.
My good man, All I am saying there is something known as Rock n Roll manners. The brothers of Oasis and Lars need some filling in on these things. It just isn't appropriate. You don't downgrade Charlie Watts simply to compare what you play to what he plays in fear of you knowing your band will never make it to that level at that age.
That is what Lars did.
