Steven Tyler's Memoir To Talk About Drugs, Sex And Rock 'N' Roll
ShareThis

August 7, 2008 12:25 p.m. EST

Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service
New York, NY (CNS) - Rocker Steven Tyler is going to tell all about his life of drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll.

The 60-year-old lead singer of Aerosmith is writing his memoir.

According to The New York Times, Ecco, a division of HarperCollins, has acquired the rights to the book. The book will talk about Tyler's childhood in the Bronx, his music career, his relationship with his four children "and all of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll imaginable," the publisher said in a statement on Wednesday.

Daniel Halperin, the publisher of Ecco, has described himself as an avid fan of Aerosmith since the 1970s. Halperin will edit the book, which is to be published in 2009.

It could be an interesting read ~ he has lead an adventurous life. I would love to hear about his sexlife ~ if he has the balls to talk about it, and I bet he includes a few juicy stories!  I wonder if he'll do a book signing in NYC for some publicity, it would be sweet to get an autographed copy!

Isn't he still in rehab? Does one cut deals whilst in rehab? What exactly is the etiquette for one's stints in rehab?

I don't know.  I don't find the lives of rock and rollers all that interesting.  I might pick up a memoir from Mick or Keith, but that's only because I'm such a Stones fan.  But I can't see reading about the spoiled lives of egotisitcal musicians.  There's better stuff to be read.

I thought they started working on an album last year? They have gone seven years now without an album of new material...

Still they continue to tour fairly often?

Now this Guitar Hero thing and no news of an album is just more of the same in Aerosmith being long and comfortable in simply living the sell-out life. Any more they pertain to 14 year olds and have no problem with it. They have for some time now.

They tour ....for what? They don't need the money. What's the point? For cryin out loud Joan Jett tours with them. Not that Joan Jett is incredibly silly or anything but Aerosmith "used" to be taken sort of seriously, at least in a sense.

They show no sign of ever wanting to get any of that reputation and image back. Instead they consistently go away from it.

Truly Disappointing.

Substitute "Aerosmith" with "Rolling Stones" and "14 year olds" to "corporate audiences" and you'll see how the Stones have been perceived by many for the last decade or so, unfortunately.

Understood. But, understand my point as well ...we're not talking about The Rolling Stones and their issues, we are talking about Aerosmith.

Any time a band does something un-cool so many want to say how The Stones are no better. Normally, there is some truth to it and there is also some "under the microscope" critisim towards The Stones other groups don't receive.

Hell, every single solitary major Rock Act in the past 20 years has had to do corporate things, or take care of their corporate endeavors in some way.

The one act that is pretty big but still tried to be anti-corporate is Pearl Jam. Even they had to give in on some things I'm sure.

But, now back to the conversation, Aerosmith ...the has-been sellouts who purposely play into and pertain to 14 year old geeks...

I like The Black Eyed Peas. The album "Monkey Business" was a fun ride.

Secondly ...they are (or at least were) somewhat relevant and were not straight out of 1981.

This is my point. What's next ...having REO Speedwagon open?
