To all Dog lovers:  I need advice on this----->

My neighbor's dog (Bailey) ran away to my house.   My mom came over and found Bailey sitting by my front door.   Bailey was extremely thirsty, so she gave her some water.   Then, her owner's fiance saw her and came to get her.   As soon  as Bailey saw the dude, she bolted.    My mom went driving around to find her, and when she came back, Bailey was sitting by my shrubbery.  

She gave her a lot of water to drink, and Bailey was very thirsty and was panting very hard like she was in distress. Its 96 degrees here!!!     My mom tried returning  Bailey to her owners, but the fiancee wouldn't open the door.

Advice Please!!!

I would call the police and tell them about the situation; don't know where you live or if the police there have time to deal with a dog situation.  Even if they don't, they can advise you or direct you to Animal Control or whatever the proper authority is.  You obviously need someone who can force them to deal with the situation -- if the fiance realizes you could take the dog to the pound, he'll probably take her back.

I'll call the Humane Society about this.   The owner's fiancee is a dirty douchebag.   

For now, Bailey is back home, but she looks very sad.   I think she wanted us to keep her, because a lot of other neighbors were around outside, but she choose to come to my house...twice.

this is probably whats going to happen.  if fg calls the humaine society and they see the dog is not satisfied and is being mistreated they will take it away and look it over for scar wounds and basically give it a check up and then it will then be available for adoption and you will have to appy to adopt it.  something like that.  you may have a shoe in to get this dog fg.  but don't forget dogs eat, shit and have expensive vet bills.

Can you keep the dog? You may want to consider it. As was pointed out already ...it is August, the "dog days"...

Sort of sounds like your neighbors could be "wack" (that is if your absolutely CERTAIN she purposely would not answer her door all knowingly that you had their pet).

Any idea why the dog was so thirsty? Are they giving the dog water? Are they fit to take good care of the dog in the first place?

These are questions to consider.

Down Under we have the RSPCA as the official animal welfare agency. Whatever the authority in your area. MAKE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. The dog is obviously being mistreated & needs to be taken away from it's current owners. Going the official route means that the dog will get a good medical & then a real lover of the mutts will get a chance at ownership.

People who mistreat animals should be put in a cage of rabid rats...

Thanks, folks, really good advice.

Ian, yes the owner's fiancee KNEW we had their dog and refused to open the door.    He previously saw Bailey on my porch with my mom.   We tried to ask him how and why Bailey ran way, but he refused to answer.    My mom had their dog with her and knocked on their door for about 10 minutes.

The dude was in the house (his car was parked outfront) and refused to open the door.   What a filty dirty monster !!

Ironically, they got Bailey from the dog pound.   Her prior owner kept her in a garage for an entire year.

I'm going to call Humane Society for advice.   Thanks again.

A few years ago, I had to leave town for work.  My sister took in my dog while I was gone.  The day I came home my sister called me and told me he had been missing for hours.  She lives in a rural area, and I just figured he went for a stroll in the woods (as he had done many times before).  I told her not to worry he will be back.  I went to her house, andmy dog heard the sound of my car.  He put the last bit of energy he had to come see me.  It turns out he was hit by a car and was left for dead.  My sister feeling guilty rushed him to the vet.  I showed up later (as I had paperwork to turn in).  It did not look good and I told the vet to put him down.  I did not want him to suffer anymore.  I left saddened.  While I was gone my sister told the vet to do what he can. 

Well its five years later, Buddy is doing great.  And my sister will not take a cent off of me for the $15,000 vet bill.

I'm partial to German Shephards.   I like big dogs, they have a lot of personality.   I'm not into yappy lap pups.

do not get a beagle...they're useless dogs.  go for a weinerimer.  now theres a dog you can go for a run with.

Cheers bro.  Beagles are great, but they require time to train.  My X had a beagle, and I always told her to put the dog back in the house so he could take a shit.

Good Luck! That douchebag is only the beginning of what he really is. Law Enforcement has stated often that people who are cruel
to animals turn to being cruel to human beings later on.

I am looking for a dog, I would take  it but I am not near anyone. Hopefully this little sweetie will finally find a wonderful
home. I would love to put Douchebag Butthead in the garage  the way  he did  his  own dog.

There are also Animal Rescue  Groups, so maybe you can check that  out  as well.

I am getting a dog for myself.  I was  thinking about a black Labrador Retriever.  A BIG old Lab. I had a female
German Shepherd Mix and she was a real trip. She  had the whole run of the back and front  yard (had Invisible
Fence) and a doggie door in front. More than enough  times she would fly  out that dog door like  wild bat out  of
Hell, she weighed close to 120 lbs.!!  I had the Huge "BEWARE  OF DOG" sign in front but was often ignored.

(This is for my  animal lover  friends)

Labs are great dogs.   See my story above.  Buddy is a black lab.  Be patient for the frist two years.

Baileys seems to be doing ok.   Yesterday, she was playing "peek-a-boo" with me while I was working in my yard and she was by her beloved window.

Of course, her douchebag owners DID NOT thank us for taking care of her when she was a runaway, or for bringing their pet back home.

But, as long as I know Bailey is doing ok, thats cool with me.    Let's go get drunk
