(I'm in UK). Don't know much about DVDs but bought a Blu Ray player which infuriatingly is 'Region 2 only' without a Region Free hack. Only bought it to play SAL in HD. Looking on Amazon UK it describes the SAL blu-ray as ac-3 and 'all regions'. No mention of PAL or NTSC. Has anyone got the blu-ray SAL and if so is it really region free?

Well if it's region free, then thats cool. Most music blu-ray's are region free. But annoyingly, it's generally not stated on the sites. I get my Yank stuff from dvdpacific. Never had a hassle. Ntsc/pal is no problem here in Oz as all our tv's and vcr's and dvd's have dual playback. But blu-ray is something i dont know about. Sony have always been bastards and that's the trouble i fear with my ps3. EG: There is no point getting games, like Grand theft auto from America because it wont work. Which is ok, as i am getting it for my birthday.

Daeth has ordered his copy from Amazon, but i dont know if its standard dvd or blu-ray. Aussie dvd prices are very good right now, but our blu-ray prices are disgraceful. And ps3 games are over 100 fucking dollars! Though Sony is bringing out some "platinum" games for $50.

Can you see my dilemma?

Do i blow 20-30 bucks for a SAL blu=ray from the U.S. that may not frigging work, then have to pay $40+ here in Oz later on in the year to replace it.

Or do i just have another drink?
