Pats, despite Tom going down on the 2nd series of the game, extended their regular season
streak to 20 games.  No word on Brady as of this time, however, probably out two-three weeks.
Cassel filled in good, found his groove with a bomb to Randy Moss in the 2nd qtr.
All in all, Pats played good in all three facets of the gaem.  You never want to see
anyone hit the ground, so, time will tell about Tom.

Last game Nellie played was the 1978 AFC divisional playoff game.
Pats lost to the Oilers, 31-14.

Dante Pastorini burned him on a 71 yard bomb to Ken Burrough.

Mort said Eli Manning blew out his shoulder in the season opener last year, and would miss several weeks.
Eli missed exactly zero games.

So if that prognostication is any indicator, Brady will be behind center next week against Favre and the Jets.

Mort must've gotten a text message from Sporting News...

Posted: September 7, 2008
Sporting News staff reports

The Sporting Blog: Disaster for Pats

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a severe injury to his left knee, according to sources cited by Yahoo! Sports and NBC's Peter King.

Brady left Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium after being hit by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard in the first quarter. Matt Cassel replaced Brady, and the Patriots went on to win the game, 17-10.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on Brady's injury, but a source close to Brady told Yahoo! that the quarterback has serious damage to his knee. That could mean a torn ACL and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage, but there are no details yet available.

"It's bad," a team source told the website. "We're going to have to play without him."

Additionally, King reported on NBC's Football Night in America show, "I've been told that Tom Brady has suffered a serious injury to his left knee that, according to this source, threatens the rest of his season."

"It has cast a pall over this league," King added.

Well, it was a fun day a Heinz Field.  O line showed up.  Ben, FWP looked like all pros.  LaMarr Woodley NFL defensive POTW.  I'm not getting very excited though.  It was the Texans afterall, however this win will build confidence.

I hope Tom Brady makes it back.  As much I do not like him, I want the best qb in the game when the Steelers play the Pats.  We want to play the best.

FOXBORO, Mass. (CBS) ―  CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston's Dan Roche has confirmed that the initial diagnosis on the injury Tom Brady suffered in Sunday's game is a torn ACL -- anterior cruciate ligament -- to his left knee, and he is likely done for the season.

The team will know more when they get the results of an MRI on Monday.

Brady suffered a tough hit straight to the knee by Kansas City Chief safety Bernard Pollard in the first quarter. After the hit, Brady fell to the ground and clutched his knee, grimacing in pain. Team physicians had to help him off the field.

"He was in a lot of pain. When you hear a scream, you know that," Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard said after hitting Brady on the left leg midway through the first quarter.

Before he was hit, Brady had completed a 26-yard pass to Randy Moss, who fumbled the ball away when he was tackled.

Patriots backup quarterback Matt Cassel took over for Brady and helped lead New England to a 17-10 win over Kansas City .

"It kind of looked bad," Randy Moss said. "I know the show must go on and, hopefully, Matt Cassel is ready to step in."

He was Sunday. That came as somewhat of a surprise after he failed to produce a touchdown in 17 exhibition series, leading many to wonder if he would even make the team on which he backed up Brady the past three seasons.

"He did a good job coming in and, obviously, made some big plays for us," tackle Matt Light said. "That guy's had a lot of criticism cast down on him and I felt like he stepped up and played like a professional."
Sunday was the first time Brady took to the field this season. He did not play any of the preseason games.

Daunte Culpepper needs a job.  Tomlin is a reference.

By the way, touching tribute to Myron Cope, Ernie Holmes, and Dwight White at the game today.

Culpepper - for whatever reason - is persona non grata in the NFL.
Plus he just sent out his "retirement'' e-mail.

Look for recent cuts like Chris Simms and Joey Harrington to head up to Patriot Place - Simms for a tryout, Harrington to apply for a job at Bass Pro Shops.

There was not a person more happier than me when Pitt hired Dave Wannstadt.  I said he would bring in some great recruits.  Which he has.  Too bad he cant do shit with them.  Pitt has not had a good coach since Jackie Sherrill left.  Johnny Majors came back, but he got drunk everyday in Oakland.

Tough injury to Brady and I hope he's  okay and some other shockers yesterday:

Colts lose at home to Bears?
Falcons win big?
Jags get 33 yards rushing?
Chargers lose on last play?
Steelers special teams actually special?

I have to think Moss will be yapping to get Culpepper as they sure worked some magic a few years ago. Pats will still win the division though and cant be counted out.Beware of week one though as wasnt it a few years back Pats got blown out 34-0 in Buffalo then won it all?

We are awaiting word from the medical staff regarding Tom's injury.
Until that time, we are focusing on this Sunday's game vs. the Jets.
The Jets have improved themselves this year.
They are strong on all three facets of the game.
They are coached well.
They have a playmaker in Bret Farve
We will have our work cut out for us.

It wasn't over when The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, but the last two Patriots games have shown, this one is over!!!
I'm sorry to hear Brady is hurt, I'm laughed not at the injury, at the possibility that mama karma has spoken very clearly...
