Good morning all.  While reading the latest issue of Sound & Vision magazine for their cover story "Vinyl Lives Again", we have a Charlie quote worth mentioning.  Rob Fraboni claims Charlie refers to the three songs by Keith as "Those are the only ones worth listening to anymore"

he's not too far off base.

that album is highly unlistenable.

they haven't had a studio release that is listenable cover to cover since Voodoo.

If they took the best 5 tracks from B2B and the best 5 from ABB, then we'd be talking...

I remeber seeing an interview with Keith where he states he "gots versions of Anybody Seen My Baby and Might As Well Get Juiced in the can" which he is saving for us later.

I love B2B. It's one of the Stones CD's that i'll listen to most regularly.

My faves off it are: How Can I Stop?, Anybody seen My Baby?, Saint of Me and Out of Control.

I know it doesn't have the retro feel of Voodoo Lounge that was so popular but I think its a brave attempt at something new.

It was my first release after discovering the Stones so it'll always have a bit of excitment for me: reading the (mainly positive) reviews in the press, seeing the video's on TV, hearing ABSMY? on the radio, reading the live reviews of the new tour......

.....good memories of being young and stupid Let's go get drunk, as opposed to old and stupid  Cheesy.....

Gunface is one of the best songs on B2B.

And following that menacing tune is You Don't Have to Mean it, which is a great Keith tune.

Nice 1-2 in my mind...

I just scored a Philips 887 turntable and installed a Pickering 690 stylus.  I've been listening to a lot of wax on my system and the best sounding record so far is my first pressing of Keith's Talk is Cheap.

For amps I use a matching pair of Carver TFM-15CB bridged mono, a Lexicon CP3Plus for the pre-amp, a Carver C-1 for the phono stage of the system, and the speakers are Paradigm Studio 40's.  Sounds amazing.

Vinyl rules.

Good call and yes it does.  I used to take Talk Is Cheap around to different audiophile stores when I wanted to test equipment, pull some trade, or just cop some free hi-fi jollies.  Audiots looked dubious when I'd pull it out but would fall all over themselves over "Big Enough" or "Take It So Hard".  I would always sell it to hi fi stores that would want to use it as a demo record, which is why you'll in theory find them at all the high end stores in Missouri.

'Babylon' is one hell of an album methinks, took  awhile to grow on me in that Winter of '97 but these days I love it (most of it anyway^)

'ABSMB', 'Saint Of Me', 'Out of Control' & the sublime 'How Can I Stop' are all wonderful I think. But the glory comes with the excellent 'GunFace', Keef's reggae-tastic "You Don't Have to Mean It", and, "Lowdown".   Just something about those three that are magical.

The album as a whole  may not be as immediate and as truly great as a classic-era Stones record,  but I do feel it's an inspired, dark work, with many moments of brilliance.

As a whole, maybe not as infectiously enjoyable as 'VooDoo Lounge', but this one is a grower, some damn powerful stuff on there. A very worthy addition to the Stones' catalogue.

Hi-fi stores near me get a healthy dose of Stones whenever I roll through too.  It's noting but wax these days at my pad. This weekend may see Gimme Some Neck and Tattoo You on the platter.

Give me VL or SW over B2B anyday, but it's better than ABB at least.

Ah, Bridges... one of their all-time best it ain't. But I probably listen to it more than a lot of other discs. It's great for driving around and rocking out. The glory of Gunface can't be denied... same with Out of Control, Saint of Me, Flip the Switch, and all of Keith's tunes.

Might as well get juiced is great. As i've said before - Little red rooster for the drum and bass age.

But, too many Keith dirges on this album.
