I hope he does a full tour! The last few times he's "toured" have been really short 4-5 date runs.

He ate at park chow a few weeks ago, my friend who works there was totally star struck. his shows are few and far between and always so expensive!!!

Pasties and a G string...Yes.  Columbus is the closest gig so far.  I will make the drive unless something closer comes up.

he toured Europe about 3 years ago, but it was something like 8 shows in total, and about 3 of them were in Antwerp of all places.

Britain got one show - Hammersmith Apollo, which holds about 4,000 - and the ticket scramble was incredible. I think the touts were asking (and getting) about five times face value outside the gig.

I think that was his only show here since the Franks Wild Years tour in 1987. I saw him at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on that tour on one of his three nights there. One of the best concerts I've ever seen by anyone.

Tom Waits unveils tour: “Pehdtsckjmba,” he says.

“Pehdtsckjmba.” With this transparent and evocative word, Tom Waits, one of rock music’s greatest eccentrics, announced a two-and-a-half week tour through the southern United States.

Waits, who tours about as frequently as the pope, explained his Glitter And Doom Tour, ranging from Phoenix to Atlanta, with a study of astronomy. “If you think about it, from the beginning we’ve all looked to the night sky for guidance and meaning,” he said at a “press conference.”

Pointing to a map of the U.S, he noted that the route of the tour matches the constellation Hydra. He then pointed to a list of cities he would be playing and noted they formed the acronym “Pehdtsckjmba” (pronounced peh-ska-JIM-bah), which stands for “People envy happiness, dogs sense courage, knowing jubilation means better ass…sets.”

Two years ago, Waits justified the itinerary of his last two-week tour in 2006 by quipping “We need to go to Tennessee to pick up some fireworks, and someone owes me money in Kentucky.”

He had little else to say to the “press conference,” which took place in a room with apparently no people, a dozen or so empty chairs and a turntable playing crowd noise record. But for a man who regales his fans with tales of vagrants, drunks, immaculate confections, and shady characters with consulting businesses in Indonesia, it all seemed rather appropriate.

Anyway, I was able to get tickets for the Columbus show, via ticketbastard, a while back.  Looks like tickets for that show will not be available by other means since they are paperless.

The way the Columbus show is set up is that the credit card used to purchase the tickets will be the ticket in for buyer and guest (2 ticket limit).  The credit card will be scanned at the door to verify purchase.

I wonder how a musician like him, who is so obviously chain-smoking on every youtube-clip will cope with the newly introduced "no smoking"  policy (and with newly I mean since he last toured)....and Keith and Ronnie, obviously. Will they blatantly disregard the ban and simply pay the fine? What is the fine like, does anyone know? Can you be arrested in the States for smoking in a public place?

Personally, I'd allow smoking but ban people uttering stupid thoughts in public places.....
