Best Remix - Winning Ugly ?

I remember being terribly disappointed by the endless remixed of the VL material on the CD singles, the YGMR remixes stick out as being horribly, might need to go back to them.

I quickly tired of DW after listening to it repeatedly when it came out in 1986 and never went back to it but I was pleasantly surprised today by the "Winning Ugly Remix" that has a lot less of the "where's your synth" production that plagued DW (was it really a Keith album) as well as Mick's Primitive Cool than the original version.

The Miss You remix is not bad too, nice additional guitar.

I find most of them as pleasurable as the prospect of having my scrotum welded to a boiling hot cheese grater, but a few were pretty good - Miss You (which didnt have that much done to it to be honest), Undercover, Feel On Baby and I Go Wild.

the rest were pretty much without exception utterly vile. Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to strip Rolling Stones songs free of guitars?

I remember listening to Feel On Baby on the B-Side of the UC 12", instrumental only if I remember well, I think I have that somewhere. Must have I go Wild on my WL CD Singles. Do give WU a try if you get a chance, it was a pleasant surprise.

Reply #7 - Oct 12^th, 2009 at 4:55pm True, as well as the "Rain Fall Down" one hailed by Radio 1, much to everyone's surprise. Generally good remixes add a bit to the original song, but what's specific to the Winning Ugly remix I think is that it makes it much more listenable!

Maybe it's me...but i still envision the end titles of some cheezy 80's movie scrolling up when i hear this song...people getting up...putting their coats on...gathering their stuff...dopey kids laughing at what they thought was a "excellent" movie...and lets not forget the gross sticky floor (butter...nothing else)...and the cyrtain closing about 2/3 the way the the credits

has anyone ever put up a compilation of Stones remixes??

There have been many that i have enjoyed when i heard them on RS radio... Undercover and Too Much Blood come to mind...those 80's songs tend to lend themselves to "club" mixes...i even didn't mind the CAGWYW remix from the movie 21 ( saw it on TV last nite)

I do have the Pirates CD from a few years ago...there are some great mixes there...OOC...is alot of fun...but is there a collection that someone has made that is avail on the Torrents anywhere?

I think Marko did a torrent a couple of years ago of several (unreleased) BTB mixes. Some of them were pretty good. Couldnt really allow a torrent of the official ones on here though for legal reasons.
