The show was fantastic!!
NEVER JUDGE A SHOW BY THE SETLIST. Not that we didn't get a great one, but even the songs I've heard over and over were GREAT!
Entire band was firing on all cylinders and kudos to Ronnie as I'm just reading he injured his hip prior to the show.
I am happy to report that Keith Richards was the KEEF of yore. He nailed everything. I sensed NO ill effects of the head injury.
Watts is God. We all know that.
Mick Jagger. Mick motherfucking Jagger. Just when you think you've seen it all he finds MORE to give to the audience.
He amazes me. He had every person in Boardwalk Hall in the palm of his hand. He was exceptional on SOL. Singing right from the heart.
Great to hear Lovin Cup...that was a highlight for me.
Never did make it to my seat. Ended up on the floor about three rows behind the B. And when they hit the B....there I was front and center in front of Mick.
But the BEST thing about the entire weekend was my shot of salvation. My very best girlfriend who I've known since Kindergarten, who I met Mick with back in '78, who attended all the shows with me prior to the last Tour....SURPRISED me and flew in from Miami.
I had one wish left for this leg of the Tour. I needed to see one more show with B. For many many reasons. Haven't seen her in a year and a half and we've both had rough times.
I got my wish. I stood at the B and sang and danced with the friend who has been doing this with me since the 8th grade.
It was magic.
I did NOT cry at the end of the show. I didn't feel like this was goodbye.
Stadiums should be BANNED.
IF, God Willing, they all stay healthy, I see no reason for these guys not to play small venues for consecutive nights in a few select markets.
Ahhh....MY band. They are medicine.
LJ.
PS..A BIG thank you to Blue for the ride from Philly to AC! |

So happy for you LJ, this was a miracle night! The band on fire, Keith proving all the naysayers wrong and your best friend with you! Can it get ANY better than this?!
And I hear you on the feeling it won't be the last time. That's the same God damn feeling I had when I saw them this summer. We all read the reviews and logic says the guys are getting older and all, but when you see that MIRACLE up on stage, you're 100% sure they still got many years in 'em.
God bless the Rolling Stones.
P.S. GTRM, I'm going crazy waiting for your photos to show up on board |

She told me last night she'd take them in to be developed today AND get the photo CD so she can upload them as soon as she gets them back.
She had a great vantage point. B-stage pixs turn out the best.

Rolling Stones excite at Boardwalk Hall
A little over a month ago, Barry Manilow opened his Boardwalk Hall performance with "It's A Miracle." That could have been the theme Friday night at the historic Atlantic City auditorium as The Rolling Stones returned to the seaside gambling capital for the first time in 17 years.
During the course of its 44-year career, the group has had to deal with a variety of traumas and tragedies (including, just in the past two weeks, the deaths of Mick Jagger's father and Ron Wood's brother), prodigious drug and alcohol abuse on the part of Keith Richards and Wood, and a variety of health problems ranging from drummer Charlie Watts' 2004 bout with throat cancer to Richards' recent, brain-surgery-inducing fall from a palm tree.
So, it's nothing short of miraculous that the band is still extant. That it remains one of the world's top-
grossing musical attractions is all the more amazing.
Thus, the real fun Friday night was seeing the quartet of elder statesmen (at 59, Wood is the youngest of the core band members) play its singular brand of blues-inspired rock 'n' roll with the kind of hair-on-fire intensity and exuberance much younger musicians often fail to display. That goes double for the 65-year-old Watts, whose simple-yet-elegant timekeeping is truly a work of art.
Most incredible of all was Jagger who, at age 63, continues to defy the laws of aging and physiology. Except for the traditional midshow sequence during which Richards croaked out a couple of his numbers, Sir Mick was onstage for the entire concert. Not just on it, but continuously whirling, jogging and boogalooing about it, displaying the kind of physical conditioning usually seen only in boxers and NBA players. But when was the last time you saw a still-active fighter or B-baller who qualified for AARP membership?
Jagger's vocals were similarly unaffected by the ravages of time … or the fact that Friday night's boardwalk bash was the 114th of the "A Bigger Bang" tour that began in August 2005. His voice is still one of rock's most potent weapons, and he generally nailed all of his assignments.
The only exceptions were the signatures (e.g. "Sympathy For the Devil," "You Can't Always Get What You Want") on which he actually altered the melodies. There were other drawbacks as well. A few pieces, including "Brown Sugar" and "Under My Thumb," were a little too sloppy and indistinct. And the 20-song set list contained too many been-there-done-that war horses like "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)" and "Honky Tonk Women." But that's obviously the minority opinion of someone who, during the past 34 years, has seen such songs rendered live more times than necessary. Which is why the seldom-performed acoustic ballad, "Loving Cup," was easily one of the show's highlights. Other key moments included a rip
snorting "She Was Hot," a pleading "Streets of Love," the chipper cover of "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" and "All Down the Line," which was sparked by Wood's tasty bottleneck slide guitar work.
But there was no doubt the overwhelming majority of audience members received far more "Satisfaction" from the classics … and by basking in the miracle that is The Rolling Stones.

I gotta send a shout out to Steel Wheels. What a great guy.
So enthusiastic about this band. He gave us his seat as he had NO intention of sitting AT ALL...
Nice to see the gang again. (GTRM, jaggergrrl, TomL, Nanky, Glencar, Jumping Jack)
My surprise guest put a damper on my plans to socialize. I trust you all understand.
Missed those of you that couldn't make it.
We may have a new RO'er if I can get my girfriend to post.
She couldn't get over the bonds I have made and the people she did get to meet she thought were insane and wonderful.
"They really get it, P. Just like us. And everyone is so nice and funny and loves the Stones. This is great."
LJ: "WTF do you think I've been trying to tell you for the past 4 years".
I still can't believe I had another show with my best friend. No, we can't always get what we want. But sometimes, we DO get what we need. And I needed her company.
Didn't cry at the show, but can't stop today.

Steel Wheels is a great kid! He bought tickets for his parents, who were seated in one of the upper sections, and was celebrating (belatedly) his 30th birthday. It was a lot of fun to share the B-stage rail with him...a real fan, and it was a delight to see the look on his face when we'd get something like "Loving Cup" or "She Was Hot." Good people, all the way... |

"Atlantic City"...how appropriate! Did he do "New York City Serenade" at all, Gazz? That may be my favorite Bruce tune.

You're welcome, LJ! It was my distinct pleasure. I too enjoyed the show & it was so nice to meet B.
Also, I need to thank Sway for being such a great friend & getting me to the B stage rail for the entire show. I told him at the end that we should all get together for a BC show at some point in the future if the Stones don't tour again. It'd be great to get a bunch of us together again. |

Yes, that song is so well done live that I'm amazed they didn't do it at the beginning of the tour last year. I mean, it was their lead off single! |
