Bought "Greetings for Asbury Park" a month ago and am digesting it
just wondering how you springsteen nuts think this album compares
I'm not a Springsteen nut, in any way, shape or form, but at one time I owned all his material up through Tunnel of Love and Live 75-85.
I think the best Springsteen album ever was the boot, Fire on the Fingertips. My second favorite and the only other one that I can listen all the through without skipping songs is Greetings. Unlike Gazza, my favorite songs on the album are "Mary Queen of Arkansas," and the song immediately following, "Does This Bus..."
Through overplaying, Classic rock radio has ruined Born to Run, Born in the USA, the River, and, to some extent Darkness, in my opinion. I do like 10th Avenue Freezeout and Jungleland from the first, and a lot of Darkness is okay. I never liked Nebraska to begin with. On Live 75-85, the extended version of Growing Up and the Darlington County / Working on the Highway medley are very listenable.
I can't stand Tunnel of Love, even though that is the only tour that I saw Springsteen in concert on. I don't know enough about his post "Live 75-85" work to comment on, but nothing has really caught my ear.
