"James Brown was a truly inspirational musician whose influence has been felt by generations of singers over many decades and all over the world. I first saw him at the Apollo in the 1960's and his stage perfomance was unique. He was a whirlwind of energy and precision and he was always very generous and supportive to me in the early days of The Stones. I've always been a huge admirer of him as performer and a band leader. His passing is a huge loss to music."
