Hace 54 años, el 30 de junio de 1967 The Who saca dos rolas de los Rolling Stones grabadas el día anterior sin John Entwistle ya que andaba de Luna de Miel, como protesta y como solidaridad, las rolas fueron The Last Time y Under my Thumb

These two Rolling Stones’ songs were recorded by The Who as a gesture of support after Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were jailed on drug charges. It was their intention to continue recording Jagger/Richards songs for as long as the pair were in jail but they were released before The Who had a chance to record anymore. Pete played bass on both tracks because John was away on his honeymoon. He was contacted aboard the Queen Elizabeth on his way to New York at 3.00am to hear the playback. An unamused John commented “I had to go to the radio room just to hear that. I thought somebody had died!”

hace mucho escuché esas versiones y se me hicieron nada especial, hoy las vuelvo a escuchar y me gustan mucho, al principio parecen covers sin chiste, pero luego ya le dan el toque Who

Las oi también hace muchísimo y apenas las recordaba. Son muy chulas, se nota que las grabaron con prisas para sacarlas pronto. Al principio de Last Time parece que tratan de imitar a los Stones, pero la última parte es puro The Who, UMT si la hacen suya desde el principio.
Por cierto que fue todo un gesto de buen rollo por parte de los Who.
