So apparently he was in Crete this weekend! And here's how it went down according to local media The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna received a special visit, as Mick Jagger was in Crete and was given a tour of its monuments and exhibitions! The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna received an unexpected but special visit yesterday, Saturday.
The legendary Mick Jagger, singer of the Rolling Stones and lover of ancient civilizations, was in Crete and Rethymno and did not fail to take a tour of the archaeological sites and the museum of Eleftherna, as GOODnet.gr writes.
According to information, the famous musician toured the basilicas, the Necropolis of Orthi Petra and the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna, where he showed great interest in the exhibits and the history of the place.
As the museum people report, "he was thrilled, he took all the books and catalogs of Eleftherna, this year's exhibition "Ancient Elites, Warriors and Princesses", and last year's exhibition on Picasso."
After his visit, Jagger had lunch at a village tavern, where he enjoyed Cretan dishes with his friends, "traveling", as it was characteristically said, "through time and our culture".
The well-known artist asked that the privacy of his visit be maintained, and so everyone respected his wish not to publish any photos.
The museum's managers expressed their joy at his presence and estimated that "perhaps he will come to us again suddenly, as he likes to do."
Mick Jagger was given a tour by Marinela Mamalakis and Panagiotis Kolovos, and also had an online "meeting" with Professor Nikos Stampolidis, who was at the Acropolis Museum, in order to be present - in live streaming - with the new Pharaonic museum in Cairo, in a connection of "contact between Egyptian and Greek civilization"!
