FYI, here's the band "Hot Property" that stood in for them

The doom-and-boomers at IORR are going to hate this one.

It's a bit lost on me. Seems like a noble failure on first view; executed well for its type, but its type is unnecessary; the girl meets standards, though. Disposable. No harm done. (**Glad to see Revvy liked it. I'll give it another spin or two. I don't hate it.)

I'll be more interested to see how the normies react than how IORR does. It wasn't made for them or us. Initial Youtube comments seem favorable.

Not much of Keith and Ron in the vid.

I guess the AI couldn't get a decent likeness for that period.

Will this conflict with bv's no-AI discussion policy?

I've been following Hot Property, the band who played the Stones in the new vid, for about a year or so now and really like them, so I'm thrilled these guys got this opportunity cause they're all huge Stones fans, especially Luca (Mick double) and Jonny (Keith double), however I hate the fact they used AI deepfakes, they also don't even look much like them at all, especially not Keith, and so I'll prerend the only vid for this song is the one with the actual Stones in the studio...

(uh-oh, AI and cigarettes!! BV is gonna freak. But at least they didn't curse this time...)

Wow, Hollywood Reporter chose the same moment I did

me (posted above earlier):
...

hollywood reporter:
...

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/music/music-news/rolling-stones-de-age-themsel...

The Rolling Stones look straight out of the 1970s in the
legendary rock band’s music video for new single “In the
Stars,” thanks to de-aging technology courtesy of South Park
creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone‘s AI company Deep
Voodoo.

In the François Rousselet-directed video, which features
Odessa A’zion, the band is rocking out in a warehouse as a
crowd of fans dances around them and a slew of other
musicians join in on the song too. At one point A’zion licks
the digitally de-aged Mick Jagger’s face.

“Are you kidding me? It’s my dream,” A’zion said of starring in
a Rolling Stones music video. “The first record that I ever got
that I listened to from start to finish was Tattoo You. I’m
obsessed with the Rolling Stones. This is in my bucket list for
sure.”

Wife (54) and kids (26, 23, 21, 18) love the video. They think it's brilliant.

Their Stones intake is passive inhalation, so I'll take this as a direct hit for the marketing group.

I'm seeing the light too.

Tbh I think what annoys me most about this video isn't even the AI in 1st place but that there are like 5000 people involved and for no reason at all like 20 drummers which just looks weird...I think had they stuck to like the band + 15 people max it wouldn't seem so fucking weird... but anyway I still like the song a lot, the chorus gives me a good mood

Anyway I kinda have an assumption about people who don't like the new songs, they just didn't listen to them loud enough and with proper headphones/on a good system and also not often enough yet because if you just play it once on YT on your phone without earbuds, then of course it doesn't sound great but this jas nothing to do with the songs themselves but with the sound quality, if you ACTUALLY listen to them properly with earbuds so you can hear the left and right side as quite obviously intended by the production, you'll notice more and more little interesting details with every listen and it's so so great and I simply love this 💜

Which makes it even more frustrating that they had all those random people...

Anyway, as I said, I've been following Hot Property for a while now and I can totally recommend them, their guitar and general sound reminds A LOT of 70s Stones, unfortunately Jonny's voice is pretty "clean" or maybe that's just the production idk, but I still enjoy them a lot, they only have 2 songs published so far, in case anyone of you is eager to chrck out some music by some younger musicians Cheesy

Luca is also in another young London based band called Stereo Cupid whom I've been following for a bit longer even and they got a bit more of a punkrock feel to their songs

1) This is what anti-AI ideologues don't understand: the "young"
Stones are not the theme of the video, they are the decoration. The
theme is the real non-AI 100 or so young attractive London-area
Stones-enthusiasts, the musicians and dancers, who showed up on
short notice to participate. Both the video and the lyrics are all about
them...

While "rough and twisted" piled well-deserved scorn on up-themselves
IORRaqi-type critics, "in the stars" is a straight-up love letter to all the
kids who are inheriting this world their elders have so badly fucked up

FYI the inspiration for the video are the worldwide Rockin'1000 events

2) Another way the Stones are reaching out to the future is
through their Spotify "beneath the hits" initiative...

...

...

3) Still another great new thing from the Stones...

"The Mosh Pit Presents" is a series of curated, high-energy, and
often live-recorded music playlists or events. These collections
frequently showcase rock, alternative, and metal music, appearing
on platforms like YouTube Music and Last.fm, sometimes featuring
live performances...

warning for bv: contains dirty words

4) I noticed via iorr-org that I am not alone in feeling more
appreciative about "in the stars" musically because of the AI video,
to the extent of wondering if it is a different mix. Still wondering...

They wanted the cover art to raise hackles... mission accomplished

Ditto for this AI "in the stars" music video...

Two whole months before the album, what else can they possibly have
planned? That will cause an uproar?

I'm back to thinking it has got to be some surprise gigs aimed
at young Londoners/Europeans. Can you think of anything else?

COUNTERPOINT  May 17, 2026

SPECIAL NOTE: if this motherfucker thinks he has the right to slander
Mick this way, then I certainly should have the right to express my
damnation upon his hopelessly lost soul. Also FYI, once again these
are bv's words verbatim, not satire, except for the first paragraph.

May 17, 2026

I, Bjornulf Vik, owner editor Grand Muckety Muck of the greatest
rock'n'roll fan site in the world, and unchallenged undefeated
Pit Champion of the World, and Supreme Opinionator of all things
political cultural and medical, being of sound mind and body, do
hereby swear...

I have watched the video once, forcing myself to watch it through,
even if it is disgusting, but I will never watch it again.
Now I understand why Keith looked a bit lost during the press meetings.
He just did not approve of any of this. Ronnie had no vote. So Mick got
what he wanted.
(bv, hey man, that's my gig, doing fantasy,
you suck at it. No wonder why, with their vision this clouded, the
Scandinavians lead the world in suicide)

It is not The Stones. It is Mick Jagger insisting on not growing
old. For ages he has been doing the same. At the El Rey promo show
in 2001 he hired a bunch of video models. They were placed in the
front, nice young girls to talk to, paid $200 each, short, in order not
to stand out too much. Security asked us older looking people in
the attendance to move aside, to let the paid models a third of our
age, in their early 20's to the front. The same happened in every
promo shooting, like Beacon Theatre, Fonda and so on. Paid short
video models, some times even young boys, in their early 20's at the
most, paid $200 each to make the Stones fans look young.

(bv, thank god they did this, or I would have been needlessly
traumatized at the sight of your decaying mug accompanying my
favorite music)

If it is stand-in's, lookalikes or AI does not matter. It is not the
Stones, and it is not their fans.
(bv, you're dead wrong, these kids are
definitely fans, perhaps more casual than us, just like the many thousands
of others in the USA stadiums. These kids just don't have money to burn
like they were, to use a familiar example, some Scandinavian tech business
owner who can't wait to get away from his wife for a few months)

There is something called "growing old gracefully". Then there is something
called desperation. I am sure a psychologist or a social anthropologist
will have a better analysis of it.
(bv, hey that's me, a social
anthropologist who also once upon a time shared the same
psychoanalyst with Keith, documented, and Mick, I'm almost sure)

A bunch, 10+ drummers, same with keyboards and bass players, none looking
like Darryl, Steve, Chuck or Matt. Professional dancers. It is not my band.
Not my friends in the "crowd". It is a time machine back to the 70's, but
I just can not get myself into watch it anymore. It is probably meant for
the younger fans.
(that is, the younger at heart, so, bv, thanks for the
compliment, from someone who is decidedly your elder. And, if I might share
a personal admittedly subjective opinion, I am so happy that you have
finally shown yourself as the naked emperor I always knew you were,
or to put it more discretely, a world class asshole, and the least Stones-like
"superfan" that ever was, or ever will be. Also someone way too
chickenshit to disobey your mama and grow old disgracefully in the
trademark manner of our beloved Stones. And FYI, you confused old
wanker and once-useful idiot, the only reason the Stones have ever
tolerated your bullshit is for the same reason they have always
tolerated all kinds of media hacks: You helped them sell tickets,
records, and merch. That's it, that's the only reason, so suck on
that lollipop for awhile! Love always, revvy)

special psychological portrait of our norwegian superhero

Great song- great video! This video will garner attention, which indicates to me that is precisely what they want because this album is strong. It must have material they are very proud of. Great album name- this is gonna be sweet!!
The video is for the kids...

At least South Park won't make fun of the video. FU Cartman!

I feel bv has gone way over the top here.

I'm not a fan of AI.  Yes there are a lot of advantages to using it and there is a fear as to how far the capabilities of it can only, especially in malicious hands.

However, here we are talking about the current Stones video.  My opinion - my only gripe is it doesn't capture accurate images of Keith and Ron so they are kind of in the background.

Otherwise it's jist a bit of fun.  I've said previously they could have included all Stones past and present, Bobby Keys, Nicky Hopkins etc.

It's harmless.  Nobody dies.
