People get bent out of shape with any criticism when new records come out, especially if it’s criticism of newer acts, ie lady gag gag or, now, amy winehouse but neither are my cup of tea and it’s disappointing that the stones covered one of her songs. I listened to the original and the lyrics are pretty shite. It will hurt a bit to hear one of the greatest, if not the greatest, lyricist of all time sing those words. I just hope it’s not the one Rob smith is on because I’m looking forward to that.

If this single is the best song on the album, this album is in real trouble

I’m seriously underwhelmed by “In the Stars”, it’s crap 💩 never felt so negative about an upcoming album before

Beautiful Delilah sweet as apple pie
Always gets a second look from fellas passing by
Every time you see her she's with a different guy
Beautiful Delilah, that's the reason why

Rebecca don't allow me fool around with you
You are so tantalizing, you just can't be true

Beautiful Delilah dressed in the latest style
Swinging like a pendulum, walking down the aisle
Deep romantic eyes, speak so low in smiles
Maybe she will settle down and marry after a while

Beautiful Delilah bathing in the sun
An audience of 17 and notice not a one
Local cassanova who wouldn't be outdone
Let her steal his heart away and break it just for fun

Rebecca don't allow me fool around with you
You are so tantalizing, you just can't be true

"Delilah and Rebecca are distinct biblical figures with contrasting roles.
Delilah (Judges 16) is a Philistine woman who betrayed Samson for money,
acting as a deceitful seductress. Rebecca (Genesis 24-27) is the virtuous
wife of Isaac, known for her kindness, faith, and role as a matriarch."

......

"Charles Edward Anderson Berry was born on October 18, 1926, in St. Louis.
He grew up in the middle-class neighbourhood known as the Ville. His father
Henry was a contractor and deacon of a nearby Baptist church; his mother
Martha was a certified public school principal."

**************************************************************

ALSO THE LYRIC VID FOR "ROUGH AND TWISTED"
same format as "in the stars", similar footage, but a lot more Andrew,
more Jordan and Winwood, plus our first fleeting glimpse of Darryl at 1:26

and even more steve winwood, produced by jimmy miller

ALSO, FYI, via iorr-fitzcaraldo:
"Yesterday, by accident, I discovered the UHD Atmos versions of the
new tracks on the Amazon Musicstreaming app. For someone who had really
been struggling to get any satisfaction at all from the standard stereo mixes,
it was nothing less than a revelation. One could finally hear the bass — warm
and absorbing the sharper tones of the guitars and the drum cymbals. Mick’s
singing was no longer aggressively upfront, but instead placed tastefully
within the mix alongside the other instruments. So not all hope is lost..."

ALSO, this evening, king recognize king *
...
* "king recognize king" is a phrase used to acknowledge mutual respect between
two individuals who possess high levels of success.

ALSO: "pushing into new sonic and lyrical territory"
...
SOMEBODY WAKE ME UP FOR THE ATMOS VERSION

'Whate' was meant to be :Whatevers'.
Saying 'Gay Gazza' was a 'jest' or a comment on him making the site somewhat more cheerful.
Saying the site was more butch of late was just  a hope that more femmes would contribute.
Soz.

Yo e- That's how I felt initially. I heard both songs multiple times yesterday on a better system and they sound utterly great!! ITS will be super cool within context of the whole album me thinks. It will be a good flow. So be cool and get excited, real excited... Cause it's coming hard and fast.

Re Revvy's question at the top of this page, if Mick sings You Know I'm No Good as-is, by himself, it will hijack the entire record. All the attention will go to that. Is Mick gay at 82, bi, Bowie, the usual stuff, blah blah blah.

But worse, since the song would be gay at DEFCON ONE. It won't be the same as Mick sometimes changing Brown Sugar so that it's black boys and not girls who taste so good, or Honky Tonk so he's singing about sailors he can't get off his mind.

This would be a monster that devours the release. It would also hijack the original. I just can't see that being the smart play here. The alternatives seem clunky too. Whatever they chose, I hope it's low-wattage and doesn't distract/detract from the record or its hype.

We're off to a good start.

teaser trailer

not just de-aged, but fully AI mick AND keith

cameos: 1) jack daniels 2) jagger's embroidered jacket
3) keith's red ruffled shirt 4) a specific guitar 5) the studded
black belt

seems like the game to play this time is going to be how many
items/eras of stones history can you identify? good luck

(conceptually similar to the Angry video, so yeah, so far
to me the vibe this time seems very Diamond Dust and
not the more stripped-down soulful neo-retro thing i was anticipating...)

I had read somewhere that it was gonna be 10 HD and 4 2025
tracks -- iorr-georgelicks now says the opposite, 4 HD and
10 2025 tracks. If georgelicks is right, then we already know
the 4 old ones: the two we already got, plus the Macca and Charlie tracks.

I still say its strange that if georgelicks is right it means that
none of the 10 new tracks were worthy of being one of the 2
lead singles now. And if these two HD singles were so good
(which they are) then why weren't they included on HD?
HD needed them. Especially "rough", which was reportedly
a one-take wonder, needing little post-production, just sitting
there ready to go...

ALSO FYI the atmos version of the album is part of the
blue-ray box set. I heard the atmos previews for "rough" and
"stars" on Apple Music, and I agree with fitzcaraldo's comment
(above) that the increased separation and bass is a good thing.

ALSO FYI there is speculation afoot that the new
track "Some of Us" is a finished version of this outtake...

I like In the Stars....its a good power-pop song that sounds like The Stones.

Can't wait for the remixes and 12-in extended versions.

Rough & Twisted is a good foot-stomper, for sure.
Prolly never to be played live, sadly.

Q:
Am I the only one hearing how "Foreign Tongues" almost
sounds like "Rolling Stones"?

AI: Phonetic Comparison:
For-eign Tongues: /fɒrən tʌŋz/Rolling Stones: /roʊlɪŋ stoʊnz/

The key is in the "or" and "on" sounds, which can be easily
blurred by a foreign speaker reducing vowels or over-rolling
the "r," making the two phrases phonetically similar.

FUTURISTIC DRAGON: EXCLUSIVE
Soul Survivor: Nathaniel Mary Quinn
Meet The Man Behind The Iconic New Album Cover For The Rolling Stones

BY JOHN-PAUL PRYOR

https://www.futuristicdragon.com/nathanielmaryquinn

Excerpt: The essence of my interactions with them –
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, the people in their orbit, and
our time together – fueled the vision for the work itself:
a malleable construction in which their faces become one
flesh, a union forged over decades, enduring triumph,
turbulence, brotherhood, myth, and time, from which
emerged some of the greatest rock songs in human history.
Yet I had also sat before these men.  I had watched their
faces, their gestures, their body language. I witnessed,
acknowledged, and embraced their humanity.

These men have lived long and astonishing lives, yet they
remain remarkably wholesome and kind while, perhaps, being
the greatest rock’n’roll band on earth.  Yet, in their eyes, one
can still detect something almost adolescent – as though they
are continuing to grow accustomed to the staggering reality
of what they have become.  I believe the driving force lies
within their genuine love for what they do.  Like devoted
saints surrendering themselves to ritual, they submit to the
process completely. They have lived adventurous lives – lives
marked by whimsy, chaos, transcendence, excess, endurance,
and roads uniquely their own.

I do not have a favourite Rolling Stones album or era.  Their
music, however, is profoundly meaningful to me because, as a
child, I remember my brothers – each significantly older than
I – playing The Rolling Stones alongside Prince and James
Brown.  The Stones have stirred their magic to soulful perfection...

Black American music exists within the DNA of The Rolling
Stones.  Their deep reverence for Black American blues,
rhythm and blues, gospel, soul, and early rock traditions
forms the bedrock of the band’s artistic identity.  I can feel
this connective tissue in the music itself – the arrangements
are soulful, moving, and palpable, like enduring church
songs delivered with such force and conviction that they send
a shiver through the body...

To think that The Rolling Stones came of age fifteen years
before my own birth, and that fifteen years later I would
endure the devastation of familial abandonment, only to
somehow arrive at a place in life where I would sit across
from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, feels governed by a
divine orchestration beyond human comprehension.

There was considerable deliberation surrounding the portrait
among the band members and the record label.  I created a
second work during the process; ultimately, the collective
excitement surrounding the first painting proved undeniable—
it is the work that now graces the album cover. I suspect the
question of vanity existed chiefly within Mick Jagger’s mind,
though he is genuinely thrilled with the piece.  Keith Richards
and Ronnie Wood possess an almost high-voltage enthusiasm
for it, and the record label praised it emphatically from the
outset. Everybody involved is profoundly happy with the
result; otherwise, believe me, the work would never have
become the album cover.

nathaniel quinn via iorr-Rockman
...

ALSO I was watching on youtube some young ghetto-ish
rap fan reacting to his fifth Rolling Stones warhorse (at the
behest of his older white patreons) and at the end the young
guy has one question: "How come the Rolling Stones are
the only rock band I've heard that has soul?"

Artists like to sneak shit into their work (see DaVinci)

So do I think Quinn snuck in a complete cover portrait of
Keith Richards?

YES I DO (Keith's revenge for the Goat's Head and Tattoo You covers)

there are a few clues...

-- the center panel looks nothing like Ronnie, much more like Keith

-- on one side the bandanna sneakily extends into the center panel

-- Keith's left eyebrow, the white-ish patch

-- Quinn does not do composite portraits of multiple individuals,
he only does composite-type portraits of single individuals

yeah, I know about the lips, but Mick's lips are no longer
puffed-up either. Perhaps the artist has given Keith honorary
African-American lips. Or more likely, the lips are just a
misdirection, helping to disguise the much cooler truth...
Keith finally gets a cover image all his own !!!

and yeah, I think Mick is in on this joke
