In case you missed it... Stay in the know about all things The Cockroaches

Rev 20 Redlights wrote on Apr 13th, 2026 at 11:46am:

Some people have just received the following poster in an email from the
"official Hackney Diamonds email account", whatever that is. I just checked
hackneydiamonds.com and it just bounces to rollingstones.com

The Cockroaches are definitely still kicking asses and taking names

but for what product(s) or event(s)?

your guess is as good as mine

...

Also, FWIW, georgelicks just now:
"It seems we're going to receive what would be a trilogy of albums,
starting with Hackney Diamonds in 2023, Foreign Tongues in 2026 and
a final one in 2028-29, a golden touch to a fantastic career."

suddenly i have an educated* guess...

What if, based on the two website names ("hackneydiamonds" and
"thecockroaches"), what if "foreign tongues" turns out NOT to be
the name of the forthcoming album ?

What if the name of the forthcoming album, by the Rolling Stones,
turns out to be "THE COCKROACHES" ?

Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya, would ya think the boys insane ?

Remember what I already reported, earlier in this thread, that
foreigntongues.com is owned and actively operated by a fashion brand !

************************************************************

according to ©Agence France-Presse*

The Rolling Stones have mysteriously released a new limited edition
single on vinyl only, under the band name The Cockroaches. Sounds of
the Universe
, in London's Soho, was the only place in the British capital
to receive the coveted records. This record shop in Soho is associated
with Soul and Jazz records.

The store -- located in the same building where the legendary band held
its first rehearsals **
-- got just 14 copies to sell, according to the owner.
The Stones' record label Universal Music "called us on Friday and told us
that they had some records for us and could we sell them on Saturday.
They said it was because of the building being the Rolling Stones' building --
that's how we were selected."

Saturday's limited sale followed days of teasing the release online on a
newly-created Cockroaches Instagram page and website and through
posters featuring a QR code linking back to the website. One video featured
on the Instagram channel included a caption that read "64 & counting" -- an
obvious reference to the number of years since the Rolling Stones were founded.

...

* Global news, on hundreds of sites and channels via ©Agence France-Presse --
No mention of "foreign tongues", only "cockroaches", get it yet?
THAT is how you implant in the public's brain the name of an album.
THAT is how you do marketing.

...

You just took me to a flyblown town
In the back of nowhere
The smell was acrid and toxic
Couldn't breathe the air

********************************************************

** not an insignificant anniversary... Anybody know an exact date ?
"The Rolling Stones held their first rehearsals in Soho, London, in
March or April (probably) May 1962. These early sessions took
place in a room above the Bricklayer's Arms pub (now a record shop)."

I can dig it.  Just know that I will not be wearing a Stones t-shirt expecting to gain entrance to a club show, stadium spectacle, drive-by concert, balcony run-through, groupie party, sing-along, back-stage break-in, or bums-rush.   Cheesy

Hmm I don't think the new album will be called the Cockroaches, I think they dug out that moniker again in order to hype that whole Foreign Tongue trope, seeing how the Stones is their familiar name but the broad public doesn't know who the fuck the Cockfoaches are, so to speak they are the Stones in some kind of "foreign" tongue lol at least that's my interpretation 😅

The new song. Hmmm. On the surface it’s pretty strong given where we are. Grateful to have it, and that’s the main thing. It is a stompy blues number. But it’s also missing something, a variance in dynamic, perhaps. But it’s pretty good, and I think it’s a bit of a tell that Hackney Diamonds was also good, or good enough to raise a lot of people’s expectations a bit. Mine included.

Could be a song.on the album.called Cockroaches.

More likely is they will pop up at a secret gig somewhere under that name to promote the album.

I've changed my take on the song. It seemed a bit flat on first listen but around my fourth listen something clicked. I think it's terrific.

I originally said the song didn't really go anywhere, good vibe that just rolled along like Love is Strong. Er, no.

The more I listened, and started thinking about blues genres, I realized it's not supposed to and doesn't need to change direction.

I threw it on a playlist with songs by some Mississippi Hill country artists, Chicago slide guys (Hutto, Taylor), Hooker, and a bunch of other artists doing the romp and stomp thing, and the Cockroaches' song fits perfectly.

Now I'm bracing myself for the poppy lead single next month. have faith, I guess.

With Georgelicks confirming there is yet another album coming at some point, it seems that reports of the Stones' imminent retirement were greatly exaggerated.

I will be very interested to get their own actual comments about performing live again. If, when, and what.

So true about their own comments on live shows, I cannot wait for them to do a press marathon again for the new album release like they did for HD cause pretty much every single interviewer will ask them about shows and it will be interesting to hear what Mick and Keith have to say about that then...

I liked the new song right away btw but only got to listen to it in not so amazing quality from what mt friend recorded with her phone while she haf the record spinning (she actually got one from a store in Bologna), anyway I really liked it because it's blues-y and has that stereotypical Stones sound that I love... yesterday someone sent me a full stereo version that sounds even better quality than listening to Spotify and I was utterly blown away!! I absolutely LOVE that jam part in the middle/end part of the song, it reminds me a lot of what they do with Midnight Rambler which is my favourite live song ever and the particular way Steve is drumming on Rough and Twisted in exactly this part of the song makes me think a lot about the way he played Rambler in Paris in 2022 which probably was my favourite live version I personally got to hear at a show 💜

The marketing campaign still has many fans upset over on IORR.

OK it was a bit baffling. How were we supposed to get what Nijinsky and Natchez was about without hearing the song? Was it aimed at a younger market? Hardly. You either like the band or you dont regardless of age.  Whatever the idea behind it, it was never going to be on a scale similar to, say, the Oasis reunion.

A bit of fun while we wait for the important news.

via iorr-tbdster...

"It was serviced to radio in the US this morning. Artist title (in our system
anyway) is "The Rolling Stones a/k/a The Cockroaches. Song (from my
company anyway) has "fucked up" censored. I don't know if that edit is
from Universal or the radio company. We're playing it a bunch here in
Providence, RI on 106.3 and in New London on 102.3"

Also new via NME, where they've posted five social-media links
to rips of the full song...

"The single serves as the first taste of The Stones’ as-yet-untitled new album"*

"Limited to just 1,000** numbered copies worldwide, this release is a
single-sided 12-inch white label pressing housed in a plain white sleeve
and issued in its original resealable outer sleeve with barcode sticker and
numbered hype insert. Lacquer cut by Ryan K. Smith (RKS) at Sterling
Sound Nashville, this pressing carries the coveted RKS STERLING
deadwax marking — a hallmark of top-tier audiophile mastering."

(* after reading my earlier report here on RocksOff that the
website foreigntongues.com is an established fashion company, imo
anyone who still thinks the new album is called "foreign tongues" is
simply not using their noggin)

(** as I first-in-the-world reported here on RocksOff a few days ago)

Are you surprised? 😅 the crazies over there like to nag about everything, it's like a sport for them, once they've calmed down about the marketing, they'll nag about the song and then about the album because nothing is ever good enough for them xD

The more I hear this song, the more I love it.

If the rest of the album is as good as this, we are in for a real banger.

The 70s bedroom has not yet been explained.  Also is there any significance of the Ziggy Stardust LP.  Why didnt the band use one of their own?

I think there is more of this bizarre jigsaw puzzle to come.

Idk if I'd find it funny or ridiculous if the new album is called the Cockroaches tbh xD I like Foreign Tongues as a title, seeing the Stones Tongue hahah...but also I still stand by my assumption that they use the Cockroach moniker to emphasise the "foreign" aspect, seeing how the Stones is their familiar name^^

Overall I also still think, especially due to the Netflix collab, that Cockroaches is a hint at a small scale show for the album release that Netflix will broadcast...

People on IORR have been pointing out that if the album is being released on 10th July indeed, it would be during the hot phase of the Football World Cup...maybe they can even arrange for a single to be played as an add or intro or something, now that would be maximum publicity...maybe the boxing match intro just was a taste for what's to come

I saw that too about the World Cup.  Mick is a big footy fan as well as liking cricket.

Not sure why he wanted the album release to coincide with the tournament.

One is tempted to answer the incorrect answers in the quiz, some of them being more fun/silly.

By the by, has anyone pointed out that the Cocky poster/possible cover-art is the same colour as the first Sexy Pistols album's?

But I'm a busy 'man'. I have cheese to grate etc.

Never mind the bollocks, our superhero friend is at it again, defending
our virtue against all forms of barbarism...

...

once again this is not satire, this is verbatim...

"I am talking on behalf of all the fans who spent hours on travel,
and queuing, most of them had to go home empty handed.  I am not a
"blind" fan. I never told people to be happy with everything the Stones do.
I did not publish photos of Keith or Ronnie smoking on stage, because I
think it is a bad sign to fans. I don't approve of Mick swearing on stage
like a teenager..."

Well, at least I know now what greeting card to get him for his party...
