updated forecasts... (forecasts, educated guesses, not predictions)
100% chance -- Friday's clue:

100% chance -- Saturday's event, Cockroaches' gig, Moth Club or some
similar tiny place
100% chance -- at 1:42pmBST saturday, the poster on gen-Z's wall
changes to "Cockroaches LIVE at _______ SOLD OUT"

100% chance -- digital/video single released also fri/sat, physical single
goes on sale,
no other announcement 65% chance -- this is the single (yes i know the Stones have performed it
live, but the single is The Cockroaches' studio version)
100% chance, Matt Lee is right...
"it is a single release... probably their best marketing in years but sadly
I fear most will be disappointed."100% chance, revvy@rocksoff will be thrilled with the single and with
the event and with the video and with the "no other announcement"
strategy plus laughing his ass off at the sufferation on the iorr forum
ADDENDUM: Matt Lee has just issued a splendidly disingenuous
(pretending to be naive) statement at iorr, which changes exactly nothing
about my stated forecasts, now adding my additional 100% forecast of
more Cockroaches thrills and spills coming as soon as next week...Matt Lee's statement in full:
"This thread amused me! I actually really like this marketing campaign
(I am a professional marketeer, who built a £500m annual turnover agency
starting with a mate and £1,000). My only worry is it's a bit too clever,
only really reaching people who hang out here or on Shidoobee, Marketing
is about achieving the incremental sale, the one you wouldn't otherwise
have got. My concern is the audience this campaign is reaching want and
probably unfairly expect more. A new album should be great news, I
suspect all we are getting on the 11th is the first single and I fear the hard
core who this campaign has whipped into a frenzy will feel a sense of
disappointment."
In other words (my reading of Matt's statement), this mind-fuck has
been intentionally aimed at the fan-forums because the offhand cynicism/
arrogance/entitlement/obstinacy/insularity that predominates amongst
hardcore online fans is THE biggest obstacle the Stones face as they motor
into a brand-new era for themselves and their music.
