rumour that Stones will play rotterdam june 2026

https://www.ad.nl/rotterdam/stones-terug-naar-de-kuip-toch-nog-concerten-mogelij...

## **Full English Translation**

# **Stones back to De Kuip? Concerts still possible in Feyenoord Stadium**

Concerts **may still be held in De Kuip in 2026**. According to insiders, there is even serious talk about a **concert by The Rolling Stones in June**.

**Peter Groenendijk**
Writes about municipal politics in Rotterdam
**December 11, 2025, 15:21 — Last update: 15:53**

For a long time, it seemed that the concerts by **Di-rect** last summer were the *last major performances ever* in De Kuip. Stadion Feijenoord entered into a widely discussed **sound agreement** with the municipality last year: in exchange for **12 million euros**, the stadium’s management promised that **concerts would never again be held**. This agreement made **housing construction** in the immediate surroundings of De Kuip possible.

But in recent weeks, discussions have taken place at City Hall about the possibility of **still allowing concerts** in the stadium, multiple sources confirm. Although the general public assumed that concerts were no longer possible, it now appears that the **current permit still allows room for them**: concerts are only no longer permitted **once the new housing near De Kuip is actually occupied**. And because those homes do not yet exist, concerts in **2026 are still possible**. This is confirmed by both the municipality and concert organizer **MOJO**.

### **Agreed**

What’s more: on the official **municipal events calendar**, which lists major events such as festivals and the marathon, **an ‘event in De Kuip’ is scheduled for June 15/16**. Every other event on the list is mentioned and explained — *except this one*.

A spokesperson for Stadion Feijenoord says they cannot comment:
**“Those dates are reserved for an event whose organizer will announce it in due time.”**

### **Stones?**

No one wants to confirm it yet, but Rotterdam may be allowed to look forward to **one more concert by The Rolling Stones**. According to insiders, the management of the world-famous band has inquired about the possibilities of performing in De Kuip in 2026.

**Di-rect in De Kuip last summer. © Marcel Wagenaar**

Rumors about a new **European tour** by the band around **Mick Jagger (82)** and **Keith Richards (81)** have been circulating for some time, after a tour planned for last summer was canceled. At that time, there was still talk of a performance in the **Johan Cruijff Arena**, but the agenda for next summer there has already filled up considerably. There has been *no official announcement* yet. Concert organizer **MOJO** says it does not wish to comment on concerts that have not yet been announced.

### **‘Rotterdam Jam’**

Coincidence or not: The Stones released a **previously unheard track from 1975** last month, titled **‘Rotterdam Jam’**. It appears on a reissue of the album *Black And Blue*, which was partly recorded **50 years ago** at **De Doelen** in Rotterdam.

**Mick Jagger in De Kuip during the Tattoo You Tour, 1982. © Getty Images**

The Stones have a particularly strong bond with the city. They previously performed **four times in Ahoy** and **ten times in De Kuip**: three times in 1982, three in 1990, twice in August 1995, and again twice in 2003. Their most recent Dutch concert was three years ago in the **Johan Cruijff Arena**.

### **A remarkable twist**

If concerts do indeed return to De Kuip, it would be a **remarkable turn of events**. Due to the sound agreement, it was widely assumed that Di-rect’s concerts last summer were the *final De Kuip concerts ever*. They were announced that way on many occasions. The decision led to widespread protest and even a **petition against the deal**, which was signed more than **10,000 times**.

But the agreement still stands, the city council recently emphasized in response to questions from councilor Ellen Verkoelen (JOU).
**“The interests of area development in this neighborhood outweigh the few concerts per year in De Kuip, for all those Rotterdammers searching for new housing,”** the council wrote three weeks ago.

Nevertheless, it now appears that a **concert in 2026 is still possible**.

---

Als je wilt, kan ik **de Engelse versie herschrijven in journalistieke stijl**, of een **samenvatting** maken.

BREAKING ! ! !

According to Stones insider Richard Fox (rcfoxy) on Facebook

The "rumoured/planned/booked" European 2026 RS Tour has just
been canceled. (Its not a Health issue)

The whole truth of course is that it was never planned

So I wonder who was the only one (again) in the entirety of the
Stones universe who made the correct call ?

Rev 20 Redlights wrote on Nov 30th, 2025 at 5:26am:

So far I've only speculated on the 2026 EP/LP possibilities...

so i guess i'll take my first stab at what shows might happen in 2026

Last year I based my "no euro tour" call mostly on macro-economic factors

and those factors have grown even more unfavorable over the last year
(more discussion on this in two iorr.org threads "rumoured 2026 tour"
and "overpriced concert tickets")

so once again i'm guessing no euro (or american or asian) tour

just some high-profile small/mid size venues with unique setlists

royal albert hall? carnegie hall? ryman auditorium? red rocks? etc
maybe six or eight total shows spaced at least a week apart?

celebs and guests galore. big ticket prices.

but also HQ video tickets available, perhaps by subscription to the whole
series? or maybe as a series on netflix or apple or prime? with maybe
some backstage/rehearsal/travelogue stuff between shows?

something like that i'm guessing

cheer up, this is actually GREAT news

instead of torturing y'all with this Euro tour nonsense for several more
months, like they did last year, they've had mercy and let you off
the hook already...

well, its not mercy actually, its because they're ready to announce their
actual plans, specifically the opening salvo of what will be a very big 2026
for the Stones

Exclusively on Netflix "ALL OVER HELL (JETSTREAMING WITH THE ROLLING STONES)"

Get your passports and budget in order (or else just enjoy from your TV room)

as i speculated last month...

OK, not great news to wake up to, and I was riding a cool vibe cause I saw Rod Stewart live for the first time last night.

There seems to be a "farewell" kinda vibe across the other boards and Facebook and even Stonesdoug posted something in this key - and Voodoo, you too, why my friend!

I mean I can hardly get my head around to why this tour is cancelled twice  Grin and I don't have enough caffeine in my blood yet, but why jump to the conclusion this is the end of them touring at all?

I mean - all three of them were seen recently and they looked alright as always. Supposedly the tour cancellation was indeed not due to health reasons (SURE HOPE SO) I'm just thinking this might be a logistics issue? Can't see any other real reason they wouldn't go through with this, given dates had already started leaking and the press was even starting mentioning gigs in some cities.

I've edited this post four times already, hahahah. So, I read this on IORR, posted by Harlem Shuffler. Not sure at all how reliable or not it is:

"A friend has told me that Hendrick Mulder (who is apparently very reliable) has said that the Stones had a falling out during the mixing of the new album."

I mean I don't know if I wanna laugh or roll my eyes or love them even more for being their usual chaotic selves  Roll Eyes

If these guys did indeed have a falling out in year 2025, age 82, and resumed their 80s Cold War over the mixing of the album AND all this led to cancelling a tour, I mean....

I can't see there being a fallout over the album.

My understanding was that this was completed months ago and reliable sources are predicting a release in the Spring. Tour plans seem to have been talked about after the album completion.

We may never know the truth but whatever the reason we hope they are all in good health.

And from Bjornulf:

I would advice people NOT to spread false rumours. They pulled the tour off. As simple as that. When you are in the 80’s, and you have been touring for 62 years, it is perfectly ok that you have the right to signal to management that you are not ready.

We have seen them live for more than three generations. Very different from say Beatles fans, whose band wrapped it up in the 60’s, from my memory.

Right now we are disappointed, but honestly, we have had our chances to see them live in seven - 7 - decades.

May be they find a way to play live again, but probably not. We will see. I am just grateful for all the great moments they have given us, and still, a new album is still due!

Bjornulf

This sounds pretty ominous, but I still can't understand the connection, cause tour cancellation ≠ band death. The math ain't mathing.

So either there's more info in the background that we don't know or everyone's jumping into a dramatic reaction, really can't tell.

Speculation and knee jerk reactions are always going to be rife on social media when something like this happens.

The end was always getting nearer (although I'm not suggesting it is the end right now). If they can't tour, or even put down a new album, there every chance of the guys issuing more deluxe releases and/or stuff from the vaults.

As bv says..."It's not over yet".

I wouldn't say tour canceled. They placed holds on stadiums, then released the holds. This happens more than you can imagine. I couldn't even count the amount of times over the years I got dates from reliable sources only for it to come and go without any announcement.

Not even a recent (non) phenomenon for the Stones. There was a tour for 1996 and limited dates for 2008 penciled in that never came to fruition.

Haha I know, I just couldn't handle the whole "goodbye" vibes we've been bombarded with today all over the internet. I mean you got the sun, you got the moon.... There needs to be some stability in this crazy world.

Anyway, I'll stick to the idea that it ain't over until I see Keith himself say it out loud, and even then I might still hold on to hope  Grin

If it's truly over, and despite the rumors saying it's not a health issue, I can't believe that it's anything but a health issue. If there are no more shows, then something must be going on health wise. I just can't imagine that the last show they ever did was Ridgdale. I don't doubt that the information about no tour is accurate, but unless one or more of them physically can't do another show, I can't imagine they won't have some sort of farewell show in the UK.

various Brit rags are reporting this...

A source told The Sun: “The Rolling Stones had all the big promoters
throwing loads of ideas and dates at them for next summer. But when
they properly sat down to discuss the tour, Keith said he didn’t think he
could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months
.”

The average IORRaqi is interpreting this as "Keith killed the tour"

Whereas the correct interpretation is (as I keep telling you) "the Stones
have zero interest in a stadium tour in Europe or anywhere else.
Instead they're doing a fun gig tour, which thanks to Netflix, will
still net them a not-inconsequential sum"

The last show was always going to be where the last tour ended. Consensus has always been there wouldn't be any "farewell show."

Otherwise the amount of denial and delusion on some forums is off the charts.

Putting a few things together kinda seems to me Keith didn't want to do it.
