Heard a snippet of BLH.  Hopefully it will appear in full somewhere.

The album itself sounds great  so far but it will be 10 times better when I can listen to it on proper speakers.

This has lived up to the hype.

I wonder if I will get an email from the store today.

Ridiculous that these albums aren't ready to go.

Here, y'all welcome, I wouldn't wish on anyone to go through with Apple what I had to endure to get this song, every true Stones fan deserves to be able to listen to it because it's an absolute beauty, Mick and Keith singing a duet together, just utterly gorgeous, one ofy fave songs on the album 💜💜

Thank you for posting Bad Luck Hideaway. It's brilliant and just what I needed - Mick and Keith on vocals. Big guitar sound.

This is going to be the summer of the Stones.

I love it!

I have really appreciated getting only two songs at a time from Foreign

Seat belt unfastened. Foot off the gas. Too much for me. Three
album listens yesterday, starting today only one album listen per day.

All the tracks have dance visualizers now, from around the world.
Great. Somehow it tricks my mind into hearing the music better.
Here's the one from Tokyo...

so yeah, I'm the only smarty-pants who suspected the truth --
everything re-recorded except Charlie's drums...

"Bad Luck Hideaway" features Mick Jagger: Vocals, background
vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar - Keith Richards: Vocals,

Charlie Watts: Drums - Benmont Tench: Organ, piano - Matt Clifford:
Wurlitzer piano - Andrew Watt: Background vocals (also producer)

Oh god why did they do this with those weird dance visualisers...Imo they should rather have posted more of those lyrics vids with snippets od the guys in the studio...that's literally the only "complaint" I have, I'll ignore those videos^^

Listened to the album 4 times so far and it's only getting better, by now Hit me in the Head isn't irritating me anymore but I can apprecciate how rock-y it is! For me the clear standout songs I find myself drifting back to are Some of Us, Covered in You, Side Effects, Divine Intervention...

These visualizer dance videos are so beautiful and meditative and
music-enhancing, perfectly capturing the spirit of these times...

AI agrees with me that this one might be Mick's son Devi

too much to hope for, but that would be the coolest thing yet

It's not Dev^^ just a kid looking a bit alike hahaha...I mean it's definitely fun for those people included in the videos but I personally find them unnecessary...probably cause I never really watch music videos much...I didn't even watch all of the old music vids to prior songs 😅 guess my brain cannot handle the visual in connection with the song I can only focus on one and I noticed before when I was too distracted by the video I didn't pay attention to the song but that's a me thing😅

There seem to be approx 3-5% or so of Stones fans who don't like the new album and I honestly feel sorry for them for having such a weiird taste to not be able to enjoy this masterpiece the guys gifted us with 💜

Is it only me or do the first 5 chords of Some of Us sound a lot like the intro of Hand of Fate in the very beginning, only less distorted and a tad slower maybe 😅

Poor quality but the original Some of Us Are On Our Knees from the Dirty Work outtakes...so it seems like Keith already had some of the lyrics worked out then and took them and maybe added onto it, also some of the chords are the same but I'm so happy it took them so long to release it and they worked it over cause now it's dozens of times better, also his voice sounds so much better nowadays since he stopped smoking 😅 also back then he would never have let Mick record the background vocals probably lol so I'm glad it all worked out like it did 💜

Took Jason's advice (Hang Fire) and let FT play from start to finish, no skipping, no jumping around.

First impression: Until Hackney Diamonds, I had been conditioned to temper my expectations when new Stones records came out. I tried to keep my expectations in check with this record too, despite how good HD is. On first pass, I'm blown away.

Jealous Lover is the weak link in the chain but it's still a decent song with some clever lyrics and good guitar work. I won't be skipping it. HD has a handful of songs I skip from time to time.

The nutjobs at IORR complaining about how modern the record sounds can stay in 1968 for all I care. Of course it sounds modern and loud. Frankly, it sounds better the murky production on their classic records, and a hell of a lot better than their 1960s records. Taste is whatever, but those complaints seem to be classic old man shakes fist at cloud.

The dorks calling this a Mick Jagger solo album aren't worth debating.

The supposed political content of the record is refreshingly tame and largely ambiguous. Mick takes a couple of easy swipes at approved targets, and gets the requisite claps. Boring. Been there, done that ad nauseam. Elsewhere, he pulls off some really nifty turns of phrase, surprising non sequiturs, and other verbal successes that are sailing over their heads. (BTW, except for the line about pulling away the welcome mat, Ringing Hollow could be sung by right wingers too. If you told me Mick wrote most of it during Biden or Obama's terms, I wouldn't have doubted you. That's some of the ambiguity I was referring to and it's probably not accidental, though I know the song is meant to be critical of the current times. I don't really give the slightest shit about musicians' politics, right or left, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point that out.)

All of Mick's noble failures within and outside of the Stones the past few decades laid the foundation for the monumental achievements on this record. Everything he's been straining to do comes off masterfully and gracefully on Foreign Tongues.

Mr Charm is killer. Covered in You has one surprise turn after another and they all work. Hit Me in Head works great for me. Divine is a great pop-rock song. etc etc. I love the whole thing.

Lastly: I don't expect this record to age poorly. The buzz won't fade. It'll grow over the years. Instead of asking if this is the best Stones record since Tattoo You, we could ask if it's the best since Some Girls. Initial impulse: yes, and I have TY as their #5.

ok..I've listened to it again.,..and there are some high high peaks on this new record and some cheese...Jagger is Jagger but overall he brought the band solid material and he and Andrew pulled together a great album...Jaggers vocals are really outstanding here......My hot take...keith isn't touring this because he probably hates half the songs. He added some pretty guitar but come on Keith..... Side Effects was your only real new idea?

Untrue about Keith...Mick said he suggested to make Divine Intervention a rocker instead of a country song which it originally was supposed to be and therefore made it far better, and said he also added other things to songs here and there, Andy said so too, besides Keith literally is on bg vocals on 9 songs (+BLH) and singing his own of course, so he contributes not only with his guitar play but also is singing way more than on other albums

And considering that the album couldn't come out earlier due to vinyl pressing I totally understand 82 yo Keith when he doesn't wanna tour, give interviews left and right, and do other promotion all at once, especially since he now seems very open to the idea of playing shows next year and said in the Apple interview he's excited and looking forward to making and recording more songs with the Stones

So I tried a first rating of the new songs...

12/10 (because they're just THAT damn brilliant and outstanding): Some of Us, Covered in You, Bad Luck Hideaway
10/10 (also pretty fucking great, cannot stop thinking about): Divine Interventions, Rough and Twisted, Never Wanna Lose You, Side Effects, Ringing Hollow
9/10 (amazing and real fun songs too!): Mr. Charm, Jealous Lover, You Know I'm No Good, Beautiful Delilah
8/10 (not as great as the rest but still pretty good): In the Stars, Back in Your Life
6.5/10 (it's growing on me): Hit Me in the Head

Let's see how this will change in a week or two 😅

I tried emailing their customer services department burlt only got replies from bots. Going round in circles.  They keep saying that the record isn't due for release until 10th July.  AAAAAARGH!

Just finished my (promised to myself) one and only daily listen, so
we'll see what happens over time, but FWIW

Best since Exile, in the sense that its the only flawless album since
then. Every FT track is captivating. This time Andrew Watt didn't
just give the Stones a spit-shine, he understood them

Sure, it doesn't have the six incredible peaks of Some Girls, but
neither does it have its three or four noisy valleys

Tattoo You shouldn't even be in this conversation

FWIW

I'm happy for you Rev that you're enjoying this album after you didn't like HD that much, I feel very sorry for everyone who somehow cannot enjoy FT and see its brilliance

But I have a theory, it's just based mostly on some observations I made and also talking to my Stones friends who're all around my age (early/mid 30s)...

So I observed that those few people who unfortunately don't like FT 99% seem to be older fans, like 65+ year olds who have been fans forever and who say their favourite albums are the ones from the 60s with Brian

Meanwhile me and my friends all absolutely adore FT, yet neither I nor them have any of those early/mid-60s albums even anywhere near our top 10 Stones album list... actually I'd go as far as dare say that I don't really listen much to anything before Beggar's Banquet...my top 3 fave Stones albums of all time are Let it Bleed, Exile and Sticky Fingers in that exact order

I think it's pretty daring, Rev, to say it's the best album since Exile Shocked...for me it's the best since Some Girls, I don't really listen to Tattoo You that much for some reason altho it undoubtedly has some great songs

So I guess my updated top 10 list is:

Let it Bleed
Exile
Sticky Fingers
Some Girls
Goats Head Soup
Black and Blue
Foreign Tongues
Steel Wheels
Dirty Work (yes I know I'm weird for rating it so high but I love it)
Hackney Diamonds
(and after that Voodoo Lounge, Tattoo You, Emotional Rescue, A Bigger Bang)

Just found this on IORR ny RnT:

"In an interview published today by Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant Mick says about the songwriting that Keith had about 2 songs completely finished and Mick as well. He says they worked together on writing the other songs."

So fuck everyone who thinks Keith doesn't or doesn't want to contribute 😌

I tried to google the interview but it's paywalled

Most noteworthy things from this interview: Paul Saxton admitting that Some of Us also made him very emotional, hearing Mick and Keith singing together like that and he thought it was very vulnerable, and Mick mentioning that on Beautiful Delilah it was just him and Keith, both playing 12 string guitars, and he was playing rhythm and Keith slide ...I just think Andy Watt did real well there with the continuation of the album closer being an hommage to Mick and Keith's childhood heroes and the two of them being the only ones involved in playing them... this kinda begs for the question what they would consider for the next album...seeing how Mick said he'd love it to be a trilogy, so it also most likely would be their final album ever... some journalist should ask Andy if he already is collecting ideas lol
