As I've said before, with Hackney Diamonds i spent months in shock
at how it sounded (to me) like the Stones had lost their edge...
Now after two hours with Foreign Tongues, I am again in shock, this
time at how much it sounds like peak Rolling Stones (and I hope this
shock lasts at least as long)
I have lots to say already, but I want to get back to listening, so
just a few comments...
This is
so much a guitar-centric keith-and-ronnie album.
My bet is that, while of course Mick's guitar is in there too,
there is zero guitar played by Andrew
From the low-fi version of Mr. Charm, I guessed it was Chanel.
In hi-fi that's still my guess
i'm surprised no reviewer has noticed that Mick and Keith have
turned Beautiful Delilah into a delta blues, not too far distant from '
something like Prodigal Son
my strong recommendation for this album: turn up the bass !!
hopefully the atmos mix will remedy this
also, everybody seems to be assuming that Bad Luck Hideaway
is the 2015 version. I am not so sure it hasn't been re-recorded.
Anyway, either way, the snippet is awesome.
30-second snippets, which kept me going for these first two hours...
