18 years ago I made this video with footage from MSG 1969 authorized by Albert Maysles and the audio from bootleg recordings. Abkco, Universal and some others tried to remove it claiming copyrights and I won! (Hey Mick if you need help, Voodoo won two legal fights with ABKCO, both while Allen Klein was alive), it was Jimi Hendrix' last birthday!
The video has more than 12M views
I've wathced this one many times over, and you rock for making it.
Lemme ask you...The Stones were intensely creative in the studio between 1968 and fall 1970, especially. You get the germination of ideas in those sessions that powered Banquet, Bleed, Exile, with even a few still appearing as late as Goat's Head Soup. There must be hundreds upon hundreds of sketches, tracks etc from 68-70, alt takes
You get the spring 69 sessions where they're a six piece with Brian and Ry Cooder and Keith all there, there's pictures of all 3 on guitar....Possibly early versions of HTW with Brian as reportedly that's the last track he cut with them, we have the demo with just Keith....
You get embyronic versions of Sticky and Exile songs...Stuff like Leather Jacket, Travelin' Man, with Mick Taylor driving the songs
My question is, do you ever foresee a time they'll just do box sets of this era and give us whatever is there?
