i havent read the linked article, so i'll just comment on some of the
"worst" tunes mentioned by y'all on this thread...
...ones which also happen to be favorites of mine that i love
without reservation, since the day they were released:
Sparks Will Fly, You Got Me Rocking, Sweethearts Together,
Doom and Gloom, Rough Justice, One Hit, Ghost Town,
Harlem Shuffle, Fight, Dirty Work, Cherry Oh Baby, Pain of Love,
She Was Hot, Too Much Blood, Citadel, Pretty Beat Up, Angie,
Wild Horses, Sing This All Together
Streets of Love grew on me bigtime. It is about New Orleans,
and it was recorded just prior to Katrina... the lost soul, the streets
flooded, the corner store selling voodoo-ish remedies for broken hearts,
it all fits like a glove
Sweet Neocon i respect because it helped bring down the
psychotic wing of the republican party, and because
it was a sequel of sorts to Sweet Black Angel -- Condoleeza Rice
standing in for Angela Davis
My Girl we used to play a lot back then not because it was anywhere
near as good as the Tempts, but because it meant to us that the Stones
loved Motown as much as we did. It meant the Stones were on our side,
as opposed to most of that wussy brit shit
