I tried to search whether we already got a thread like that but the search turned out empty, so I'm opening yet another thread Grin

This is mainly inspired by me finding out about Barns Courtney, he's incredible! Listened to him for the first time this morning, to loads of his discography on Spotify and there wasn't a single song yet that I disliked, which is extremely rare, I mean there are even loads of songs by the Stones that I skip, depending on the album Lips Sealed

Anyway, Barns Courtney, he has a great voice and the lyrics of some of his songs are kinda obscure I like that, basically a mix of 60s/70s Stones and Hozier, lyrics-wise...sound wise his older (2017) songs remind me of Imagine Dragons before they became boring and his newer songs of the Struts...he's touring with the Struts in autumn, this is how I took notice of him cause the Struts are my 2nd favourite band after the Stones and I cannot wait to see them live again <3

Apart from that:
Bad Nerves (who opened for the Struts in Cologne last year, this is how I found them lol, btw the Struts themselves have opened for the Stones before in 2014 and 2017, you see, it's all connected SOMEHOW)

thanks for posting some tracks, i like "dopamine" the most,
he's obviously very talented, but its tough sledding these days
for indie rockers and male singer/songwriters...

but for all i know he's happy with his career as is, so more
power to him. doing the crossover/collaboration thing,
like post malone and ed sheeran, is not for everybody,
jeez its almost like being a politician, being constantly on
the campaign trail

@Rev, so true what you're saying about it being tough for some of these younger rockers these days, it's literally incredible to me that almost nobody in Europe even knows the Struts while in the US they sell FoS tickets for 150 bucks at some shows (meanwhile last year I paid 30€ to see them at a club with a capacity of 500 people)
I guess maybe it's a reason why they're doing a co-headlining tour with Barns Courtney, even tho I'm not sure whether he is better known here...I'm excited either way, bought 2 tickets for shows in October today, one of them a M&G ticket, it was only 130€ on top of the normal entry price for getting to see them, autographs, pictures, early entry and some vip merch, will be totally worth it!!

artists "in concert" can overjoy a crowd by performing the same
chart-topper 5 times in a row...

its Kendrick Lamar's diss-track about Drake which in the course of a
month seems to have severely damaged the career of arguably the
second-most successful (t swift #1) artist in the world. These m-f'ers
play for deadly serious stakes. The lyrics...

which i actually watched out of curiosity. and the arena was definitely

this thread made me realize that currently i do not "like" any recording
artists other than the Stones, young or otherwise ("like" in the sense of
following what they're up to). There are many that I respect, but none
that I "like".

So my "liking" these days is a track-by-track thing. If I intentionally
seek out and listen to a track more than five times, then i think it
qualifies as me having "liked" it...

its become rare for any new material by any artist to crack that barrier.
i'm generally content with historic material.

as i've noted earlier, "chemical" by post malone qualified (i've since
listened to his greatest hits, all pretty good, but nothing that i'll seek
out again).

other 2023 tracks i liked: "get him back" by olivia rodrigo and two
by machine gun kelly (the names of which i forget)

this year so far, also in the "pop tart" category, only "please please please"
by sabrina carpenter (not the james brown song)

p.s. just listened to it two more times, for a total i think of eight times,
which was one time too many. and i probably wouldnt have listened
even that many times if i didnt especially like how she says
"motherfucker"

hmm, this recent stones album, is there even one cuss word on it?
please please please, mick, for the new album coming this christmas,
return to your #$%?&# roots
