spring 2023 after BV assured everybody that the album and tour
were imminent (even setting up a special tour page), on these pages
I countered that the album would not be out til the end of the year and
the tour not til 2024

everybody uses insider info, but since i have no access to that, i use
reasoned analysis.

my analysis is that the Stones will have a new album in our hands by
the end of this year. Although as we know it was mostly recorded at
the same time as Hackney, it will sound very different. It will
be as black as Hackney is white, and will divide Stones fans
the way a Stones album is supposed to...

For this reason and because of various world crises, the Stones will
take 2025 off

They won't take 2025 off cause they can't afford it at their age, they clearly wanna tour some more or Mick wouldn't have so candidly stated that they are looking at offers rn, and they will VERY likely tour next year when they all hopefully stay fit enough...SA in the beginning of the year and Europe in summer has been mentioned multiple times now and makes loads of sense, they could do so maybe already with the next new album...I agree with you that it could be quite logical that another new album could be published by the end of 2024 for Christmas but that would make touring in 2025 even MORE obvious and logical cause they already waited too long between the release of HD and the tour this summer...imo they should already have played some SA or Australian shows this February/March to keep the momentum of HD going...

Grin Grin I didn't mean financially OBVIOUSLY LOL (maybe philosophically tho lol Wink Tongue )
(altho sadly for other normal and non-famous senior citizens that might be true unfortunately and they gotta work if they want to or not...) I meant of course you never know what will happen when you're over a certain age basically, plus Ronnie has had health problems in the recent years, that's why I said I hope they will be fit enough for next year, but currently I don't doubt it, I mean look at them this tour^^

I dont think Christmas or any holiday is even a factor when it comes to sales, unless you are WHAM! , Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby. etc with those annual holiday songs...this year everyone of us should BUY a copy of Run, Rudolph, Run by Keef! to see if it makes a dent on any chart, lol. If Justin Bieber can have the #4 song, certainly Keef can crack the top 10, IMO...anyway, thats a thread for this November....

As I previously posted (as a joke) Maybe thats why the featured the Port of Vancouver in the poster...as a secret hint...to send one of the NA sets down yonder for this ANZ/SA tour!

Off topic, does anyone recall, that maniac from IORR who was obsessed...and I mean OBSESSED, with the show in Havana...speculating, tracking cargo ships , manifests, rumors of all sorts with the Stones equipment from some UK port all the way to Havana??

It was interesting for a minute, then I  got bored of it.  I would have assumed it would have shipped  from Merida MX (as CDMX were the last shows for Ole) for Havana...but what do I know (answer = NOTHING)...I just let these tours happen and show up on show day, lol. Anyway, can't believe that was 8 years ago already

I do hope they tour, but as I said in 2017, 2019, 2020, 20222, 2023, and earlier this year, Unless I can catch a non-stop flt from Raleigh or Charlotte, my touring days are pretty much over

I kinda feel Christmas was a factor when it came to selling tickets for this current tour because they haven't announced tours this early in a while, only like 2-3 months ahead...also they released the Racket show in December, didn't they?

Since we're all just throwing out wild guessed here atm, my wild guess is they'll be back in the studio by late September/early October like in 2022, they probably wanna keep the momentum going

Only started reading IORR in like 2018 but I'm not even surprised someone figured that shit out lol, maybe they had some general experience with freight shipping or so xD...some of those people on IORR could be detectives LOL but my friends and I have learned quite a bit from their "Sherlocking" skills over the years, as we call it, and even figured out some other stuff that they didn't Tongue

Wait didn't they play in Charlotte in 2019 and 2021? Did you go to these shows?
When it comes to the Stones, I accepted a few years ago that if I wanna see them, I gotta do the travelling, they've been in Germany a lot since I first saw them and I'm grateful for that, but I had to drive/take trains for 3-4h each time anyway...they should just finally come back to Frankfurt lol, I wish I had been alive and living in Frankfurt in the 70s cause I'm living a 5 minute walk away from Festhalle and they played there like 3-4 times in the 70s Grin

They played Raleigh in 2015 and Charlotte in 2021.
My comment was that I will only go to a show if I can get a non-stop flight from either airport.
I will drive back home to DC though, if I feel like it...its only ~4 hrs away

Some tracks might be as black aS the ace of spades; some tracks might be as white as Dolly's fresh knickers. "Who really knooows??", as Jack Miller would have said at this juncture.

some may be making wild guesses (based on as usual what they want to
happen, not what makes sense, or what has been revealed in interviews
lyrics etc)

three times BV has confirmed tours, three times i went public saying
it was not gonna happen, and three times i was right

number of times i said "no way" and the tour actually happened: zero.

the worst i've done is say that the first show of this tour would be
postponed, and it went ahead, but it was a very close call, because
of keith being unwell

so i've got a track record. doesnt mean i'm right this time, i make mistakes,
but i'm not making wild guesses. i'm carefully weighing every lyric, every
offhand comment and piece of art/advertising

so we'll see what happens, and dont forget to remind me how wrong i
was if they do shows next year, because i wont forget if they dont

anyway, i have one related question. i've given my opinion on it already,
and nobody has yet responded (with anything other than the usual lame
jokes)

why does Mick twice clearly sing "you think the party's over but its
only just begun" only to finish the song most recently and emphatically
four times with "the party's over!"?

Mick singing "the party's over" clearly has nothing at all to do with the Stones not wanting to tour anymore, or otherwise he wouldn't publically state in an interview that they want to tour and even have concrete offers for Europe and SA that they are currently looking at (so this isn't just my wishful thinking) if he was sick of it, he wouldn't say anything by talking around the question in his best politican manner like he has done loads of times before...he has a tendency to say nothing in many words and to say a lot in few words imo, maybe he should run for president Tongue Tongue Tongue

I think the lyrics is his usually tongue in cheek commentary on the current societal and political state in Europe and the US...he can claim loads of times that the Stones aren't political lol but they've always been in some way, also him reminding everyone to vote in November says a lot (tho I believe he hasn't done this since the president-come-nursing home resident embarrassed himself on TV)

r-w, most of what you just wrote i agree with, and have previously
stated, that Mick is almost always doing cultural commentary...

but please note that i never said they didnt WANT to tour in 2025, just
that they wouldnt be touring due to circumstances beyond their control...

so let's review: "angry" is about repressed anger/denial, "get close" is about
romantic self-delusion, "depending on you" is about passivity and weakness,
"whole wide world" is about false hopes, "mess it up" is about the
stones saying nothing straightforward on this album because otherwise
they would have got cancelled, "live by the sword" is about the mighty
(like Drake) falling victim to the same tactics theyve been using on others...

finally this album is fun for me. Here's the best reveal yet:

"sweet sounds" is about a guy's last moments on earth, he's dying
after having been hit by an artillery shell. The key line is "Hear the
sound of the drums, As it echoes through the valley, And it bursts"

That's exactly how the sound of artillery has been written about for
well over a hundred years. But all the lines fit perfectly, as does the
music. The guy closes his eyes, he seems to have died, but his heart
starts up again, as he testifies again briefly to the glory he is passing
into. Then he's all the way dead.

That's why Gaga/Chanel's part comes in late. She's the voice of an
angel joining in from the other side and escorting him to the great beyond

hey holden, don't you spit in my face. Why you angry with me?
I'm not angry with you

anyway, here's the Stones confirming that i'm right about "sweet sounds".
Watch the animation they project while playing the song: lush green
foliage withers and browns and dies...

So yeah, holden, let's hear your brilliant alternative theory on why
the Stones entertain their audience with the sight of plants dying...

I think, and I recall that Steve has literally said so in an interview last year, that SSOH is an hommage to Charlie, that's why the drum part and also the dying...

I think you're utterly overexaggerating here with your interpretations of the lyrics, Rev, of course you can see and interpret whatever you want but at the end of the day Mick is a songwriter and not an oracle/fortune teller and lyrics are just lyrics and not a prophecy...

It wouldn't be the Stones and it wouldn't be Mick tho if there wasn't an interesting twist to the lyrics, everyone can write bland pop radio stuff, even Mick if he wants to, see the lyrics for Mess it Up...

So your theory is that a video of healthy lush green foliage slowly and tortuously
browning and withering and dying is somehow a tribute to Charlie Watts ?!

Are you sure you didnt mean Joe Biden ?  Smiley

Lol Biden is a fucking joke and should step back in order not to embarrass his party even more xD but anyway, back on topic, the song itself is imo an hommage to Charlie, I'm agreeing here with what Steve said and because it makes sense...the choice to use that particular video probably is to underline the flow of life, everyone has to die at one point or another, and preferably, hopefully, this only happens when we are all old and whithered, after we enjoyed our youth (that's what the green obviously is standing for xD)

yes, something like that. i try to be entertaining, especially when there's
no interesting news or rumours. i try to guess what the Stones might be
up to, based on scant evidence. The 50 song thing wasnt really that
wildly wrong since 1) Mick said they started the Hackney sessions
with about 100 songs before whittling it down to 24, and 2) my 50 number
included 25 covers and 25 originals, so i believe 24 is reasonably close to 25

(and, dear r-w, i was just making a cheap joke at poor old Joe's expense.
(Sorry, Joe). basically i think we're pretty much on the same wavelength
when it comes to the withering foliage, that is, that there's life-and-death
symbolism there. Not just in the concert graphics but also in the song
itself, which is the main point i was making. so i'm not opposed to the
notion that Charlie's passing is one of the reasons the track has
its sweet-sad funereal vibe...)

The Latin American tour promoter said in an interview that was shared on FB (https://ar.radiocut.fm/audiocut/daniel-grinbank-galperin-es-profundamente-ignora...the Stones had offers for South America, Australia and Europe and won't come to South America next year cause they chose Europe

Unfortunate for the South American fans, but I'm thrilled we'll be getting to travel around Europe again next summer like in 2022, what great fun that was Cheesy tho I totally thought they could have pulled off like 5 shows in Argentina and Brazil in February...maybe they want that time to work on the new record...

It's also a bit sad to think we'll only get to see them live again in a year, hope they'll truly continue working on that other new album soon in order to keep the great momentum going, Keith and Ronnie played brilliantly...

while we're waiting for the second shoe, please keep in mind that they
seem certain to be compensating us for their (unavoidable) lack of shows
in 2025 with a radically new album before christmas this year, plus some
nice promotional activities...

(likely to resume shows in early 2026 latin america)

In pantomime lizard costumes?
Maybe with a delayed album, titled ''26 Siicks'?.
Or '26 Drum Sticks'. Or 'Anything Will, Frankly, Be Lovely'.
Happy days.
