Back yesterday and all refreshed and was able to process this event clearly.
IT WAS FANTASTIC!!
We got very lucky with our lucky dips. 2 of us in the PIT on Keefs side, the other 2 in Section A on the field right behind the PIT.
Like Nanky's post earlier, this was a truly great night for myself for similar reasons. I was sorry we didn't get to hang this time. A few other swell faces made the day even better. Hanging out with Sweet Virginia is always a treat.
When we bought these tickets 20 months ago or so, my girls would have been 14 (the same age I was for my first Stones show)...that was the plan.
This weekend they were 16 and at their first show with their old man...it was simply one of the happiest nites of my life.
The band was SHARP! The girls were excited and a bit nervous...
They came out of the show fully baptized in the church of Rock and Stones.
From the full stadium experience to a full on Stones show up front and personal...Keef and Mick 20 ft away on the side catwalks...pyrotechs...and the huge screens...What they had seen on You Tube never did it justice...they were blown away by all.
The kicker was when one daughter, after the show, mentioned that she knew a lot of the songs from their Rock-a-by-Baby Stones CD...
Anyway...the show...
I was very impressed with the performance of Ghost town the song was played really well...all on the stage seemed to be in the groove. Jaggers actual performance, moves...rivaled what he does during songs like MR or OOC...
The Drummer...He was fine...all around...some noticeable fills here and there...a slight change up on some songs...but that is to be expected. To paraphrase what Lennon's famously once said..." ..they passed the audition."
This show did not feel like they phoned it in. It couldn't possibly have been. Its a whole new thing for them, if that makes sense. Ronny, Keef and Mick all sincerely looked and acted like they were having FUN...LOTS of fun up on the stage.
A few tears shed during the opening and the closing, sure...but the show was one of the best I have ever seen. This was the prefect way to walk away from all of this into the proverbial sunset.
If you have any doubts, just go and enjoy it.
