Exclusive: Rolling Stones to continue US tour within
weeks and 'do Charlie Watts proud'

Charlie Watts will be remembered by his former bandmates as they are set to go
ahead with their US tour in the drummer's memory

The remaining Rolling Stones have paid heartfelt tribute to Charlie Watts as they
vowed to go ahead with their US tour in the drummer’s memory.

The band are due on stage in St Louis, in Missouri, on September 26, with further
shows planned until November.

Despite their heartache, a source said: “It goes without saying” that the band would
play the No Filter tour, which was derailed last year by Covid.

He said: “They will want to honour him and celebrate his amazing musical legacy.
They will want to do Charlie proud.”

And Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones told the Mirror it was the right decision
adding: “They have got to continue. Charlie would have wanted that."

THE Rolling Stones plan to pay an emotional tribute to late drummer Charlie Watts
on next month’s tour.

The group have been devastated by 80-year-old Charlie’s death on Tuesday but
insist he would have wanted them to continue their US tour.

Mick Jagger, 78, Keith Richards, 77, and Ronnie Wood, 74, are due to resume their
No Filter Tour in St Louis, Missouri, on September 26.

A music insider said: “The band want to make the show a celebration of his life.

"He was like a brother to them but they know he would have hated the thought
of them cancelling shows.

“Charlie had given them his blessing to tour without him following his operation,
so they will honour his wishes.”

I have never trusted those Ultimate Classic Rock articles.
They are always just filled with rehashed content. The article even has New Orleans Jazz fest still listed. RS.com also says nothing at this time, though admittedly, its not the best/most up-to-date source of information...

It wont be great without Charlie, it might be good, just ok, or it could sound all wrong. I'll be whispering to my friends "that song didn't sound good without Charlie, did that sound as good to you? " IT JUST CAN'T BE AS GOOD ANYMORE! But I'll still go for MICK and KEEF and RONNIE because I love those guys.

It's doubfulf the band have a clue yet themselves. But they have a habit of pulling great crackers out of their barrels
The photo of Charlie and Keith cradling 'the babies'/the twins is lovely.
It's Nappy Days. It's Spock being rejuvenated. it's Charlie hanging out lingerie in a garden in the '60s

speculation, yes, but there's mounting circumstantial evidence:

1) they knew all along charlie's illness was terminal, though of course they didnt
know when. the cover stories assured charlie his privacy.

2) rehearsals have been ongoing since approx Aug 20, and possibly before that
(darryl canceled an appearance for aug 15 "due to a rolling stones obligation".
there was also a report that steve jordan signed on sometime in july). musical
director chuck leavell can drill the band if/when both mick and keith need to
be elsewhere

3) private jet travel to and from the UK, discretely, as necessary, using all
the quarantine-free exemptions available to the rich (private doctor, daily
testing, private check-in/customs etc.). the boston-area location cuts down
on flight time and the jet has comfortable bedrooms and full communications

4) robert kraft undoubtedly providing logistical assistance

boston globe today: "we’re told that singer Mick Jagger and guitarists Keith
Richards and Ron Wood had been holed up in Boston for more than 10 days"

in (and out of) boston, very probably. holed up, no.

someone on facebook (so very important) told me that I'm not friends with the stones so have no right to give my opinion on whether the tour should go ahead.

The Stones are best friends he said, so only the should decide if they should continue touring.

All the time I was thinking that mick & Keith would read my FB posts and take notes, but this person set me straight.

Some other people on a prominent facebook group are outraged that if the Stones knew that Charlie was dying that they then didnt disclose this when they sold tickets/announced that he wasnt going on the tour.

As if that made any difference.

The sense of entitlement of some people beggars belief. Fuck the poor guy's right to privacy or that of his family, eh?
