I've recommended more than once that our next hit would need Jagger backing Jagger on vocals, some falsetto and hand claps.
Jagger listens to us.

He told me he waited hours for you at that bar in Charlotte but you didn't show

Mick interviewed by Zane Lowe about the new Tattoo You reissue

https://music.apple.com/us/post/1588192617

Talks about  dealing with bootlegging, finding the songs for both the original and bonus TY material and touring without Charlie.

Intriguingly, he talks about working in the studio with Charlie recently (for the next Stones album)

Very good song. I studied it this weekend. When they hit us with those first 2 Get it together verses with just the Stones in heavy back up- man that makes me proud! And the woo hoo's- fuck that's sweet. Very well crafted une.

There seems to be little enthusiasm or excitement for this really good new Stones song. Even on the other 2 boards. I'm let down. Embarrassed

From a post by Nico Zentgraf on social media, we can expect the previously unheard track 'Come to the Ball' to be a finished version of this instrumental (it has also been bootlegged as 'Windmill')

The original was a GHS outtake worked on in Kingston in December 1972 and then at Village Recorders in LA in late January 1973 when they had a couple of weeks off between the Hawaiian and Australian shows caused by the cancellation of the Japanese leg.

So, unless their parts have been wiped, it should feature Mick Taylor and Nicky Hopkins.

Can't listen a piano or keyboards of any kind there, but is a bad quality audio, hope the new version shows the diamond tiaras of Nicky!

From what I've read from a couple of people with more time on their hands and a keener ear than me, the live material is all from the Wembley 26/6/82 show. Nothing from 25/6/82. And they've edited out the botched intro to 'Shes So Cold' by Ronnie that you can hear on the circulating video (there's been a pro shot of the last 45 minutes of the gig available since 1982-83 and its available on YouTube)

Neighbours - 'Backing Vocals - Jennifer & Susan McLean'

New one on me. I just assumed those 'Is it any wonder?'  harmonies were just Mick and Keith.

A quick google search found this  - they're twin sisters who were models.

They also have a credit for 'special merit department' on Roxy Music's 1979 'Manifesto' album.

This appears to be what they're up to nowadays:

The 'early take' of 'Start Me Up' has new vocals. What was the point of that?

Cheers. Listening to it a bit after it came on spotify after midnight and more so today

The Wembley show is better than I thought it would be. Great version of 'Just My Imagination'. Not quite on the level of Hampton' 81 but raggedly glorious all the same.

(EDIT - it seems that 'She's So Cold' is from the 25/6/82 show. They didnt use the butchered 26/6/82 version. The rest of the songs used are from 26/6/82)

Nice to hear the outtakes. I like that version of 'Start me up', notwithstanding the fact that its totally artificial to put new vocals and completed lyrics on a take that's been passed off as being supposed to be a work in progress

Its a Lie and Fiji Jim have long been two of my favourite outtakes even though it was obvious that they couldnt really release them in the form that they circulated in. They've done a good job with them, even though its evident some of the lyrics are new (there's even a reference to 'ebay' which makes it pretty clear  it wasn't written in 1977!)

9 songs and under 40 minutes of music does make you feel a bit shortchanged though, especially as the 8 'new' tracks almost certainly were never worked on or shortlisted for 'Tattoo You' to begin with.  Its basically a collection of leftover songs from 1973-79, some of which they didn't even use for the GHS and SG reissues.  Taking that into account, its hard to imagine where they'll go next with these reissues.
There isnt really much left from IORR or Black and Blue.  There's a chunk of material from ER, UC, DW and VL but there's hardly going to be a demand for a reissue of those records.

Maybe an expanded release covering a period of years (a la Neil Young's 'Archives' or Dylan's recent 'Springtime in New York') is the way to go forward with these

These reissue concepts of theirs is totally skewed as discussed earlier in this thread.

Wish they would simply release these the way the were leaked earlier with the Fully Finished materials release...maybe a new album every 4-6 months would work for me considering the rumored 2 other volumes down the pike...that's like 9 albums in total if all rings true.

The "new" SMU is pretty OK...wish they ALSO released the original or earlier version when it was simply called Never Stop.

I will listen to the rest in a bit while at work.

I would love to hear an UC release in this vane as well.
Not to hijack this thread...but since it was mentioned...

Neil Young + Crazy Horse also released a single today..."Song Of The Season".
And I love Dylan's Spring Time in NY
