A Daylong Interdisciplinary Symposium
Saturday, August 7th 2021 on Zoom
The Live Music Institute (LMI) is proud to present its inaugural event with Live'r Than You'll Ever Be: The Rolling Stones on Tour. For many, The Rolling Stones represent the pinnacle of rock music. As the band approaches their sixtieth year together, there’s a lot of history to explore!
We welcome submissions on all Stones-related topics, including but not limited to:
- Touring: A look at a specific era of the band’s career, dissection of a particular show, discussion of stage production, analysis of reviews, etc.
- Music and Lyrics: The influence of the blues, themes in the band’s catalog, analysis of studio vs. live, etc.
- Audience/Listener Culture: Bootlegs, fandom practices and groups, articulations of fan identities, etc.
- Business Practices: ticketing, merchandising, archive releases, growth of the band, etc.
We encourage proposals from individuals and groups from all personal and professional backgrounds. Abstracts should specify the type of project, approach, and larger implications of the project.
Please submit abstracts of 250-500 words. Abstracts are due no later than June 18, 2021.
