Darkest Song / Album?

Thought I'd open another discussion with potential for intrigue.

In your opinion, what is the darkest album or song in the band's catalog?

Having listened to Goat's Head Soup Deluxe lately, I am reminded just how spooked out and haunted most of the songs are: lost love ("100 Years Ago," "Angie," "Winter"), addiction ("Coming Down Again"), sociopolitical strife ("Heartbreaker"), and downright evil ("Dancing with Mr. D). The only real relief comes in the form of "Silver Train" and "Star, Star"; even "Hide Your Love" and "Can You Hear the Music" have an underlying tension to them. I don't think another album they've made comes quite as close to capturing the murky, crimon atmosphere of this album. It's all truly doom and gloom.

As for darkest song, I think the obvious would be "Gimme Shelter," although "One Hit (To the Body)," "Out of Control," and "Sister Morphine" are absolutely tortured and despairing. Let It Bleed as a whole could be a contender, with "Shelter," the spectral emptiness of "Love in Vain," and "Monkey Man" creating a pretty twisted setting throughout. Undercover deals with some very dark subject matters ("Too Much Blood"), and Dirty Work is all fury, although the lacking quality in both records dulls their impact considerably.

I've always found it hard to take that song seriously due to the  way Mick chose to sing it.  The faux-Spanish accent is as comical as the drawl he added to 'Far Away Eyes' - the only difference being that in that case it was intentional to add a bit of humour.

Too Much Blood and Undercover are good candidates. As an album and in light of the problems of the time, Dirty Work.
