I remember watching the version of Atlantic City that aired on regular TV. I wore out my taped copy of that show. I'll be glad to get this.

This has never been available officially so I'm very excited about this release.

Great stuff!!

I recall the Stones FIRST Sirius channel would play cuts from this show often, mostly the Undercover and the 2000 Light Years which are terrific version IMO.

This is/was the last of the Vegas Show tours, innit?
Who was the musical director? Can't recall the details...1989 was a VERY fuzzy time for me in many ways...can't even recall a thing about the Shea Stadium show I was at (I think it may have even been 2 shows)

Those two tracks were officially released so that's why Sirius played them. They don't play any boots.

This gig is the one that got me really into the band.

per a post from the Steve Hoffman forum today :

https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/future-rolling-stones-from-the-vault-rele...

release : September 2020

The following formats will be available :

DVD
DVD + 2 CD
BLU RAY + 2 CD
4 LP ( black)
4 LP ( Color)
DELUXE BOX : Book+ 6 Discs ( DVD + BLU RAY + CD 1 + CD 2 + CD 3 ( Bonus Tracks from the Tour) + DVD Extra Show Tokyo 1990

(I'm assuming the bonus Tokyo show is the 24/2/90 gig which circulated as a pro shot for years and which got a Japan-only vaults release in 2017 instead of the more widely available 26/2/90 televised show which was released worldwide as 'Live at Tokyo Dome' in 2015)

Oh, and the LA Forum '75 release is coming out again in Japan on July 29th as a new mix in SHM-CD format.

There should, surely, be a long 'Living In...' mix surely, preferably with some Nicky Hopkins-like tinkles, but in the meanwhile one can/has to return to this..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXe16-WuY6U

Is it possible that the Stones are trying on trousers at this very moment, for something trousery?

I'd be excited for the official release of this show. I am not a big fan of the Steel Wheels tour (too slick, arrangements have a Vegas feel), but this is a great show.

The bonus tracks on disc 3 (which is titled 'Rare Reels') will be the following :

Play With Fire, Dead Flowers (Toronto Sep 3, 1989)
Almost Hear You Sigh, I Just Wanna Make Love To You *, Street Fighting Man  (Wembley Stadium July 6, 1990)

* previously released on the 'High Wire' CD single in 1991

(thanks to Martin Elliott for the info)

Yep, you read it right. When you fork out the extra money for that deluxe box, you're getting a 'bonus' disc with five songs which will have a running time of about 20 minutes.  Oh no! not you again

Almost Hear You Sigh from Tokyo, although it sounds cleaned up in the studio, still sounds great. One of the best to hear how beautiful Mick and Bernard's voices blend together. The one from Wembley knocking about on Youtube also sounds good. Again, begs the question why they never play it live.

Amazon Germany have (presumably in error) made the 6-disc set available for pre-order for only €24.52 !

Unlike the GHS box Amazon Netherlands listing from a couple of weeks ago, it seems that they'll ship orders outside of that country. And theres a price guarantee.

Go get it before they delete it!

I bought the 6 disc set. It's Steel Wheels related, so this is a must buy for me.

Keith's playing on this tour was great. He was on a roll during this period. First with the Winos, then with the Stones. Lots of incredible little riffs and flourishes here and there.

Much improved sound - guitars up in the mix, similar to the earlier Vault releases with Bob Clearmountain involved -  as opposed to the more recent Voodoo Lounge release, which did and still sounds anemic.

There is no finer example of Mick and Bernard Fowler blending their voices than this. Really good version of Mixed Emotions also on the Youtube channel, but it does seem a little cleaned up in terms of the playing being fixed. Might be wrong, but that's what it sounds like.

I need to see this, I was there and only have the bootlegs.
I didn't know there was a japan only show released from 1990.
is it for sure not the worldwide release of tokyo dome, a different show?
I was at 2 of the three AC shows and the opener in Philly when the explosion happened during shattered. I was of course on lsd and wasn't sure if that explosion killed me and I died at a Stones concert. I was that high at that moment.

There was a From the Vault release of a Tokyo show. This isn't it.

Let me say again how brilliant Keith was at the AC show. The Winos tour really got him a good place with his playing.

Up next for me will be the new Winos box. Bring it on!

The vault show from Tokyo was the 26th February 1990 concert. This was the concert that was televised in Japan in 1990.

The 24th February 1990 show circulated for years as a pro shot and was released as a 'From The Vaults Extra' released in Japan in 2017.

The new release features the 24th February show.

I assume the 24/2/90 show was filmed as a 'dry run' for the televised concert as the setlists are identical.

Not only a dry run, but the camera crew would have filmed it to use bits (fretboard closeups, etc.) as "coverage" footage for a re-edited version, replacing missed or inferior shots from the second night.  Audio bits as well, in case needed for patches.

There's always a re-edit for a second broadcast, such as the 2003 MSG show on HBO, whose rebroadcast version differed from the live capture.

Did it? Do you know in what way?

I know the Tokyo 26/2/90 wasnt broadcast 'live' but was shown a couple of months later with a couple of songs cut out (bizarrely, one of them was 'Sympathy', which is a performance that for me is up there with the one on 'Ya Yas' as the best version of it I've ever heard - its the same one thats on 'Flashpoint' albeit with the guitar solos somewhat truncated). They broadcast the full show on a re-run a few months later.

For instance, if you watch a tape of the first night live edit of the 2002 MSG, and a tape of the version rebroadcast by HBO multiple times over the next month, you'll see different visual editing choices.

I believe rebroadcasts of their PPV shows are also re-edited, though this is almost always visual and not sound overdubs or cuts to the setlist (except sometimes tightening overlong intervals between songs).  An exception would be overdubs applied to the very heavily re-edited and shortened commercial broadcast of "Terrifying," with its 3-D segment.

This is kind of a shame, for while the "finished product" is notably slicker looking, a lot of the "on the fly" editing choices made in the production truck are often more exciting and have a better visual logic.  This seems to have become the industry norm, however, and you can see it in re-broadcast sporting events such as the Olympics.  Don't get me started on skaters' knickers.

I listened to the audio on Spotify first but watching the Blu-Ray while I was working out really blew me away. This is a superb release of a phenomenal show, probably one of their best concerts of all time.

The weaving is especially brilliant on this show; listen to "Happy" especially, what Keith and Ronnie do is just sublime.

"Boogie Chillin'" is mixed to perfection where you can hear all four guitarists beautifully.

"Sympathy" is a tour de force and I got a kick out of Cindy and Lisa flanking Bill while he softly sang along with the 'woo woo''s.

Keith is in stunning form as mentioned. I forgot that he was almost as animated as Mick with the thrusting and leg kicks and moving around the stage. As much as I loved what I heard from him in 2019, I miss the mobile, charismatic Keith we see here.

It's clear Bernard, Chuck, and Lisa (though she's not nearly as recurring a presence as in 1994-2015) cemented themselves into the extended Stones family quite early on.

Amazing release on all fronts.

Its a very good release indeed. A bit surprised that the picture quality on the Tokyo DVD isnt better, though. Its not that much sharper than the low gen bootleg VHS I had of it back in the early 90's!
