A real gem, fantastic album.

With many great studio outtakes and live material supporting it. Some kind of underrated album as it was the one after Exile on Main Street but really GRRReat!

Love it

Goats and monkeys.
Cracking news.

When Dave 'The Rave' Bailey presented the cover-snaps, MJ said "Oh gawd, they'll think we're pouffs" or similar-ish.
The extras available on bootleg will be lovelier than lovely when smartened up a tidsy bit.

Known or unverified outtakes from this era include :

After Muddy & Charlie
Brown Leaves
Criss Cross

English Rose
Fast Talking, Slow Walking

First Thing
Four and In
Give Us A Break
Jamaica
Man-Eating Woman
Miami
Separately

Short & Curlies *
Through The Lonely Nights **
Tops ***

Waiting On A Friend ***

Windmill

You Should Have Seen Her Ass

Zabadoo

* later re-recorded for 'IORR'
** released as b-side of 'IORR' single in 1974
*** reworked/overdubbed and released on 'Tattoo You'

Of the clips above, only 'Criss Cross' sounds like a finished take. There may of course be uncirculating finished versions of some of the others although no doubt the album that gets released will feature a bit of historical revisionism as well as a few overdubs.

GHS is the first time theyve given the deluxe treatment to an album that isnt widely regarded as one of their 'classics'.

It would be nice if, like the 'Sticky Fingers' reissue, it comes with at least a CD of live material from 1973.

Still their greatest ever tour, IMO.

It's an excuse to keep Angie in the set, or Heartbreaker.

I hope they don't attempt Winter, for fear they'll fuck it up.

I've been listening to 2019 shows, and Mick's voice has lost elasticity.  Mercy, Mercy was a let-down for me.

I'm pretty sure that one of the London shows in 1973 was professionally filmed. I'm not sure why - maybe they'd tentatively planned it for TV or something. It was never used.

If so, surely this is the opportunity to release it commercially.

The audience recording from the afternoon show on 8th September is remarkable quality for 1973, and its probably up there as one of the top five Stones gigs I've ever heard.

I'm starting to get my hopes up for this package to ridiculous and probably overly optimistic levels of  expectation :

Cd 1 - remastered GHS
Cd 2 - outtakes
Cd 3 - live show from 1973 European tour
DVD - live show from 1973 European tour.

No pressure, guys....

I hope they re-issue Voodoo Lounge, so YGMR becomes the star of the set!

That's a really spacious sound on Criss Cross Man, posted above.  I don't remember such a wide mix on any boot version.

Let's hope any unreleased tracks aren't "perfected" with new lyrics and vocals.  It would be interesting, though, if Jagger did an overdubbed duet with his younger self where lyrics are few.  Like Natalie Cole and her dead daddy.

I will raise you Gazza. I am hoping that they will somehow showcase the album prior to the release on the tour, and invite Mick Taylor again for Winter, Heartbreaker, and Silver Train. Won't happen, but we can all dream.

I think that ship has sailed - especially when they waited until AFTER he'd stopped guesting on their shows before they decided to perform a show featuring ALL of Sticky Fingers.

Surely either the new studio album or the reissued GHS will come out prior to the tour. If thats the case, then with the shows just three months away we should get a release date pretty soon.

It's actually "Went out walking through the woods the other day," in Jagger's habitual "authentic" pronunciation of e as i, used in soul/blues and country songs.

If you listen to the Stones-influenced harmony vocals on The Jayhawks' Hollywood Town Hall (one of the best Stones hommage albums), they nail this to a T: bid for bed, e. g.

One could do a whole glossary of Jaggersong: chain for train in Love in Vain; jeeming for dreaming in Emotional Rescue, etc.

Hollywood Town Hall by The Jayhawks.  Bid for bed, harmony vocals that reference Parsons-Hillman of the Flying Burrito Brothers, and some Mick Taylor roots in the guitar solos:

Ironic as it took me a few listens to warm to a few songs on it as at the time I found Angie... umm lets say I held that fast forward down on my 8 track car tape player.

Not so much for others and can't wait for a re master.

Andrews27 -

You're the sort of person who hears Ronald guffawing/cackling during 'How Can I Stop?'.

Many thanks.

Imagine if an accompanying booklet contained actual photographic proof of an infuriated 'Jimbo' Miller scratching into the wood of the Dynamic Studios recording console with his pen-knife?

But what would be properly lovely is if early versions of some Goat tracks were included and so we discovered that 'Winter' was originally titled 'Winker', or  that 'Coming Down Again' began as 'Combing Down Again', a simple paean to tidier hair.

Meanwhile, surely it's possible that GHS Deluxe could be held back to yule and in the meantime the tour would be accompanied by the release of the new stuff/'bum, titled 'Really Got To Tell Ruth' (or similar).

Blistering days.

The band were in Paris late January/early February working on the new album, so I'd guess that release might come first - assuming they finished it.
