I see Pearl Jam have postponed their upcoming US tour due to coronavirus fears and Madonna has cancelled a few shows in Paris for the same reason.
Add to that SXSW in Austin being cancelled this week and increasing rumours that Coachella will be postponed from April to October. Neil Young was also hoping to announce some arena shows with Crazy Horse but that, as of a couple of days ago, appears to be on the backburner for now.
This thing will probably get worse in the next few weeks/months before it gets better. Dudes (and their fans) are old, don't forget!
I hope I'm wrong on this one, but it really doesn't bode well for the Stones tour going ahead IMO. And with the uncertainty over how long these problems could last, its not exactly something an act could reschedule a few weeks later.
On the flip side, Bob Dylan just announced a summer US tour yesterday. Was pretty surprised at the timing of it. Maybe Bob knows something the rest of us don't.
I was thinking about this today during my commute ( why pay attention to the traffic when I have a summer to plan?). I totally understand and support things like SXSW and Cochella cancelling...these mobs are not well organized...everyone is pretending its the summer of love and sharing everything, including viruses...wandering around aimlessly...
You go to a normal concert, at an arena, stadium, etc...especially with older audiences, people know how to act ( for the most part)...everyone sets up shop in the lot...wanders to the gates...grabs a beer and heads to their seats and waits for the show...I dont like large crowds w/o organization...60K folks walk into a stadium...they all know where to go and where to face during the show...these festivals are like carnivals...the lights, the sounds coming from 4 corners/stages...folks don't know what the hell is hitting them...
If they decide to sell RS hazmat suits...I am all in.
