I forgot to post two who passed away recently The first is Alan Dunn, I knew about him from Bill German's book, "Under Their Thumb", so I'm going to quote Bill's post on Facebook "Noting the passing last week of Alan Dunn, one of the longest running Stones employees in the band's history. He was 85.
As some of you know, he was a prominent character in Under Their Thumb. (Introduced not-so-positively in chapter 24, but overwhelmingly redeemed in chapters 37, 39, and 40.)
He started working for the Stones in 1967, as an assistant and driver for Brian and Mick. On tour, he was usually listed as the "logistics director," sort of a road manager, but his job entailed a lot more than that. He worked out of the Stones' London office year-round, and was an integral part of their organization until his retirement in 2012. (In the above pic from 1976, he's shown chauffeuring Mick on his motorcycle.)
RIP, Alan Dunn."
