Gazza, just guessing, but I'm thinking Columbus You rock!might be arena show, 18-20,000, hoping, anyway.  PDMeg, what do you say, other than yippee for Columbus?

LJ, woo-hoo for you on Buffalo!

FWIW, someone on IORR posted that the Columbus date will be May 30th at Ohio Stadium, claiming its from a reliable source.

I was hoping it could be a little more" intimate" at Crew Stadium instead........

Ohio May 30th makes no sense logistically, that would mean only 1 west coast show. Mid week in L.A, Vegas,  or anyplace else in the western US, then Ohio on Saturday?  I don't think so.

for anyone trying to squeeze a couple of shows in a few days it looks difficult. wouldnt buffalo and columbus and pittsburgh be close to another?

Pittsburgh to Buffalo, about 215 miles
Pittsburgh to Columbus about 185 miles
Columbus to Buffalo about 326 miles...
...all reasonable distances

It does appear that their is more buzz for this tour than the 2013 one. Or maybe my short term memory loss is kicking in............Either way, bring on the alternative market/venue 2015 Tour!!!!!!!!!

Then last summer's European tour made no sense logistically:

Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, Israel, Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark.

Will they have 2 complete stages at all times...one traveling while one is being setup/torn down?
i would have thought for sure an arena tour would be so much more economical for them but i guess if they cant play 2 nights in a row, the involved costs for unused nites between shows starts to build up fast.

I seem to recall that the Grateful Dead were said to always have 3 sets...one going up...one coming down and one moving to the second city on the calander. They played much closer dates together and usually 2 or 3 nights in a row in larger markets...hell, I loved the 10 shows at MSG every year...

U2 's 360 tour took five days to build and 3 to tear down...they had 2 sets...

Except for Israel to the Netherlands, Europe is has much shorter distances. I just don't see it happening unless they limit their west coast shows to 1 (assuming the 24th is opening night) or return to the west at the end of the tour.

Similar distances were traveled in Europe. Norway to Portugal is 2100 miles. Over a 1000 miles between Italy and Spain, Spain and Belgium.  There's 2200 miles between Columbus and Los Angeles.

The May 30th Columbus date is solid and a stage will make it there in time. Maybe not the one they played on 3 nights earlier.

I think for Licks they had five to six stages moving around the US - since they had both arena and stadium stages. The only time I've known the Stones to have only one stadium stage was the 2006 Super Bowl appearance.

Talking stats, does anyone have rough figures on how many pairs of trousers have been carried by or worn by the (core) band during previous north american tours?

Peckham, thanks for that link

the site also mentions possibly sat nite live 5/16
and the possibly two filmed L.A. Nokia shows

at first i thought it very strange to film warmup shows,
but if they do play sticky fingers in its entirety,
and the film is rush-released for TV or the internet...

that could certainly promote both the re-release and the tour in one swell foop

If Atlanta dates are accurate then Turner Field is out. But Bobby Dodd is a small shit hole GA Tech Field.....Hate the Dome too but better choice unless they feel it won't sell out. Nashville looms for me....

and if the sat nite live 5/16 info is correct

then i would expect the rehearsals for both SNL and
the LA theatre shows to be in or around NYC, to
take advantage of the media there to promote the
album and tour

then on to LA for the theatre shows themselves and
all that so cal media

sounds like a plan
