A great show!

It looks as if I will have to make my way to western NY. I grew up there but had no interest in returning but it take the Stones to change that. Fucking amazing.

As much as I'd love to see the Stones at the Hollywood Bowl, "late May" is a bit booked up. The last two weekends have Neil Diamond, Train, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga scheduled. I guess the Stones could slot in before May 20, but it would likely have to be a weekday show.

Count me in as skeptical that they will play SF in its entirety. As awesome as that would be, I just can't see them devoting that much setlist time to some of the deeper cuts (MM, etc.). And if Mick Taylor isn't going to be there, then why bother?

I am probably wrong, but it seems weird that they would play a gig on a holiday in the US. Most people are at the lake or BBQing on the 4th of July. I for sure would be there since it's close to me, but I don't remember them ever playing on a holiday here.

I don't know, have the Stones ever had a 4th of July gig in the US?

Apart from the Buffalo show in '78 that LJ was at they played a show on that date at RFK Stadium in DC in 1972.

I think it was the only stadium gig of that tour and in fact the first bonafide stadium gig they ever played.

Its mentioned in Greenfield's STP book of that tour. 47,000 people attended - and over 60 of them were arrested.

They also played Virginia Beach, Va in 1966 and a stadium show in Memphis in 1975.

I thought that too when I first read it.
Sounded like it could have been written after reading this thread!!

But the author bio at the end of the story suggests he is pretty connected with the NJ/NY radio market.

I dunno - time will tell.

I think its quite possible that they might announce in advance that a specific show might feature the album being performed - just so potential ticket buyers dont get a rude awakening when they deviate from the standard format.

But the whole tour? It'd be the biggest surprise ever for me if they did that. And a bit weird to do it now for a 44-year old album - even more so if the rumours about Taylor being shitcanned turn out to be true.

I'm highly skeptical of the Sticky-Fingers-in-its-entirety rumor. But it would make sense, in that the Stones, and Mick in particular, are always a few years behind the curve on things. Playing albums in full was a thing five or six years ago. The Stones would be arriving late to the concept like they did with MTV's Unplugged; and, in Mick's case, to the concept of "duetting" with the likes of Rob Thomas.

This is how RS.com gets its news updates

http://www.buffalonews.com/gusto/music/rumors-circulate-suggesting-rolling-stone...

Could the Rolling Stones be rolling into Buffalo? Could be.

According to the music news web site SongMango.com, the legendary rockers will be announcing a summer, 2015 stadium tour within the next week. The band is said to be touring in support of the deluxe reissue of their classic “Sticky Fingers.” The tour will find the band performing the entire album in 14 cities. One of them, according to SongMango.com, will be Buffalo. Since this is a stadium tour, that would mean Ralph Wilson Stadium would be the venue of choice.

“Reportedly – without being officially confirmed – The Stones will play Milwaukee on June 23rd and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 4th,” reads the SongMango.com piece, in part. “ Other stops are to include Red Rocks in Colorado, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and somewhere in NYC. There will be Canadian cities on the tour, which could include a festival.”

If this turns out to be true, this would be the first time the Stones played Buffalo since the 1997 “Bridges to Babylon” tour and the fifth time in their history

This sounds like ROCKSOFF is their sourcr!!

The last 2 Posts were moved here from MAIN BOARD by Unholy Trinity.

I've re-titled the thread to make it look more relevant. we can keep all the tour rumours and various news stories in one thread - when its announced officially there'll be a separate thread for ticket info, etc.

Maybe seeing its a holiday they'll make it a free gig.

A free Rolling Stones show in front of half a million people at a motor speedway, with most of the crowd shitfaced.

Surely nothing could go wrong there?

Indeed. All the information is gleaned from IORR, RocksOff and Shidoobee. Why are only a few cities mentioned in these news articles? There are at least 15 concerts/cities on this tour. Only 3-4 cities keep coming up. And no mention of a concert that may be right in your neighborhood (40 min. drive), Paranoid Android?

1) indy 500 concerts are in a corner of the place,
"turn 3" or something like that. 20,000 or however
many tickets they sell

2) no mention yet of AEG or anyone big like that.
possibly the Stones are co-promoting with local
promoters and/or the venues themselves?

I would be shocked beyond belief if they play Sticky Fingers. There's just no way they would perform I Got The Blues, Sister Morphine, Dead Flowers and Moonlight Mile and keep the casual fans interested.

Hell, die hards walk out during Keith's numbers.

I call BS on this rumor, especially since Sticky Fingers isn't a party record outside of Brown Sugar, Bitch and Can't You Hear Me Knocking...

Another scenario for Indy that would work quite well
I think would be similar to the above ("rings" of
general admission tiks diminishing in price as one
moves outward) with the remainder of the place
free (including July 4 fireworks).

the stones doing a (partially) free concert at a
speedway, that would get lots of press, and still
be a very nice family outing.

I know...We have arenas...amphitheaters...stadiums in North Cackilacky...the Stones even played at Duke University in 2005/6...I would settle for Charlotte or Charlotteville where I saw the infamous bomb threat show (my personal Altamont). I should never have moved out of DC...thanks for reminding me I live in a black hole

HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO CONCENTRATE???!!!

Will the Rolling Stones' summer tour come to Buffalo? Sources say so

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Rolling Stones are gearing up for a massive summer tour in 2015, one that might be stopping in Buffalo.

The Buffalo News on Tuesday pointed to online speculation that the Rolling Stones would perform at Ralph Wilson Stadium on their 2015 summer tour.

According to SongMango.com, the Stones' 14-city North American tour will stop in Buffalo in addition to Pittsburgh, New York and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Golden, Colo. Since it is a stadium tour, the show would most likely go to the home of the Bills in Orchard Park.

The band is expected to announce official tour dates as early as Wednesday, March 11.

The Stones would not be the first announced concert at Ralph Wilson Stadium this summer. One Direction plays at the home of the Bills on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The stadium completed renovations earlier this year and officials have expressed a desire to host more concerts. It's been 14 years since the Ralph hosted a major show.

"One of the goals of the recent renovations to Ralph Wilson Stadium was to make it a multi-purpose facility," Buffalo Bills President Russ Brandon said in a press release. "We're thrilled to bring concerts back to the Ralph, and we know our region will bring the same excitement they bring to the stadium on game days."

The last time the Rolling Stones played in Buffalo was in 1997 on the Bridges to Babylon tour. They performed at the Bills stadium that year, too, which was then called Rich Stadium
