Will the Rolling Stones' summer tour come to Buffalo? Sources say so
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Rolling Stones are gearing up for a massive summer tour in 2015, one that might be stopping in Buffalo.
The Buffalo News on Tuesday pointed to online speculation that the Rolling Stones would perform at Ralph Wilson Stadium on their 2015 summer tour.
According to SongMango.com, the Stones' 14-city North American tour will stop in Buffalo in addition to Pittsburgh, New York and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Golden, Colo. Since it is a stadium tour, the show would most likely go to the home of the Bills in Orchard Park.
The band is expected to announce official tour dates as early as Wednesday, March 11.
The Stones would not be the first announced concert at Ralph Wilson Stadium this summer. One Direction plays at the home of the Bills on Thursday, Sept. 3.
The stadium completed renovations earlier this year and officials have expressed a desire to host more concerts. It's been 14 years since the Ralph hosted a major show.
"One of the goals of the recent renovations to Ralph Wilson Stadium was to make it a multi-purpose facility," Buffalo Bills President Russ Brandon said in a press release. "We're thrilled to bring concerts back to the Ralph, and we know our region will bring the same excitement they bring to the stadium on game days."
The last time the Rolling Stones played in Buffalo was in 1997 on the Bridges to Babylon tour. They performed at the Bills stadium that year, too, which was then called Rich Stadium
