It would sure shock the fuck out of me, let alone the world

Which reminds me.

This week ten years ago, the Stones were at Mick's house working on the final Bigger Bang sessions.

Ronnie wasnt there - he was not long out of rehab and was rehearsing for that weekend's "Ronnie Wood & Fiends" concert at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane which was aimed at getting him back into shape again for performing (a show I attended and which was highlighted by a breathtaking cameo appearance by Mick)

The sessions resumed for a week or two afterwards, with Ronnie adding a few guitar parts.

And apart from 3-4 days in Paris in August 2012 to cut the two new songs for 'Grrr' thats the last time the Rolling Stones were in a recording studio together, kids.

Since this appears to be a new Tour as opposed to a contination of 50 and Counting, I'm wondering how much they'll change things up other than the absence of Taylor.

Different/new stages?
Different setlists?
Loss of the choir on YCAGWYW?

We need an announcement SOON.
All of the speculation is driving me crazier than I already am.

Different setlists?  Ouch! War horses couldn't drag me away

It's ok, Gazza. Smiley

Just having some fun. I won't believe it until I see it, as they haven't played in this state in over 20 years.

Jiffy Lube Live!!

Yeah that could get you investigated for something odd!!

Nice open air amp
Traffic in and out is horrible and while beer is available, don't try to roast anything.

BUT, should they play there, it is just a spit & a holler down the 4-lane!!

FYI
Farmers Field in Los Angeles does not exist and perhaps never will. The "planned" Farmers Field is currently the LA Convention Center which is next door to Staples Center.

With other proposals for football stadiums in different areas it makes it more unlikely a stadium will be built there in the near future.

I think we can forget about Farmers Field.

this is getting CRAZY!!!

Rolling Stones To Tour North America

by STEVE SPOHN

Look for an official Rolling Stones tour announcement coming up, maybe as soon as this week. The legendary band will be announcing the re-issue of their classic 1971 album, Sticky Fingers, in addition to a 14-city North American trek.

Reportedly, the band will play the entire Sticky Fingers album each show. Tracks include: “Bitch,” “Wild Horses,” “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” (video below), “Brown Sugar,” “You Gotta Move” (video below) and “Dead Flowers.”

The tour is to kickoff in late May at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and then head down to San Diego (though that could be in reverse order as the schedule has yet to be finalized). The one firm date is July 4th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Other dates are to include Red Rocks in Colorado, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and somewhere in NYC. There will Canadian cities on the tour, which could include a festival.

The inside scoop is that the tour venues (not surprisingly) will be stadiums and amphitheaters. There could also be a Los Angeles promotional warm-up show of some sort in late May.

Lastly, Ron Wood is releasing a book of his 1965 tour diary in June to coincide with these upcoming show dates. Read more about Ronnie’s project here.

To get you in the mood, here’s “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” with the late, great Bobby Keys on sax:

Beautiful.

Simply beautiful.

I need a few minutes to let this information sink in fully.

So based on this, there are quite a few places that are within striking distance.

Buffalo -- cool for me on so many levels.

Pittsburgh.  One for TomL and easy striking distance.

Red Rocks - since New Orleans does not seem to be on the list, may have to consider Colorado.

Boomy!
Your 4th is set.
Get yourself a great big cooler full of grub and hootch, gussy up the missus, and off ya go!

Wow.  A lot to consider.

Maybe it's me, but I've always had the impression that "sheds" like Jiffy Lube Live were beneath the Stones. It's not often you see prestige acts playing in them. Bruce was an exception, but that was for his Sessions tour.

I honestly think that a lot of that has just been lifted from fan speculation on IORR, Shidoobee, here and other places. Bjornulf is a better source of info than your average reporter.

While I'd heard Indiana mentioned, that specific venue and date is the only real bit of news there.

Count me in as being very sceptical about the chances of the Stones devoting half of the show in stadiums in what is mostly (at best) secondary markets to playing Sticky Fingers in it's entirety.

I thought that too when I first read it.
Sounded like it could have been written after reading this thread!!

But the author bio at the end of the story suggests he is pretty connected with the NJ/NY radio market.

I dunno - time will tell.

I am probably wrong, but it seems weird that they would play a gig on a holiday in the US. Most people are at the lake or BBQing on the 4th of July. I for sure would be there since it's close to me, but I don't remember them ever playing on a holiday here.

I don't know, have the Stones ever had a 4th of July gig in the US?
