I say Dylan...not even taking the amount of music into account (which was not the question), but rather, the quality of the music itself...

Well, Dylan still gives a toss about making records. The Stones, since it makes no commercial sense in terms of the time they need to put into it, can't be bothered. Also it doesn't help when the songwriters of a band don't like each other much, and they live in different countries. The Stones go on tour to finance their lifestyles. Dylan seems to have no life apart from touring and making records. Both bad for different reasons.

Since 2001 Dylan has released three of his strongest and most cohesive albums of his career, while reinventing his whole vibe along the way. And shows no signs of letting up.

The Stones have released one fine, though not truly great, album and a few singles on greatest hits comps.

Dylan easily and obviously.

Speaking of Amy, she wasn't at all bad on that "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" from a few years ago, more nervous I think than fucked up.
Would have been bloody interesting to hear her duet on "Gimme Shelter", or any song really. That girl really had something. So sad.

I just don't understand a lot of Stones' "fans" sometimes. Seems there's the "classic rawk" sorts who are stuck in a rut filled with the likes of Journey and Rush and the like; then there's the blooooz peeps who swear by their r & b prowess; then there seems to be be the rock n' roll peeps - often younger people these days - who get off on their excitement, songwriting, catchy hooks, and propulsive dancey-ness. Like "Have You Seen..." or "Dance Little Sister" or "Summer Romance" were recorded three days ago.

I wouldn't care if they weren't writing new songs if they would only play neglected songs. Where's "Flight 505," shown on the rehearsal list in the video advert for 14 On Fire?

This tour is about as interesting as a heart monitor - you know there's a point where people get bored with those and start thinking about the will.
