It is. But its still a reference to Julius Caesar. The Roman Empire stretched quite a bit further than the city limits!
Add in the historical connection to the Roman Empire of the venue they were playing in too, and I think the song choice was quite deliberate.

Fabio is saying 'Streets of Love' was excellent. It was very good when I saw it in 2006.

Streets of Love does seem like an odd song to break Taylor out for but we should be happy he is getting another song. Yes SOL is an ode to Italy which started when Julius Caesar choose to cross the Rubicon and make his claim to fame. The expression, crossing the Rubicon means that there is no going back, once the line is crossed. I'm a big fan of SOL, and I'm happy they broke out a tune from ABB!

"Streets of Love" is one of the few Rolling Stones songs licensed for use in advertising (See "Start Me Up"). It is heard in a television commercial for mobile telephony provider Vodafone Italy, in which the company's spokes-model Megan Gale also appears. The video for this song was shot at Zaphod Beeblebrox, a nightclub in Ottawa, Canada and Canadian actor Tan Arcade was cast and featured in the video. It will never cease to amaze me why the Stones want to share the stage with b-artists like that, but I hope the Roman crowd appreciates it. I'm just glad he didn't appear on the Pinkpop show (Nayer had a slot earlier that day..)

lets face it jagger would rather have mayer in the band than taylor. makes the average age in the band lower and has the name recognition and is a pretty boy
