You can’t always get what you want - but you’d be a fool to cry about £380 under your thumb.

A cigarette packet with the autographs of the Rolling Stones on it fetched that sum when it went under the hammer at a Cambridge auction.

As the News reported, local music aficionado Bob Wickham put the rock memorabilia up for sale via city auctioneers Cheffins, and it was expected to go for between £200 and £400.

Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Charlie Watts all signed their autographs for him when he went to a gig at Cambridge’s Rex ballroom in 1963, before they had enjoyed their first hit.

Mr Wickham said: “It’s a bit disappointing. I thought someone might have paid over the £400, in view of the fact it was signed by the original band, but at the end of the day, it was only a fag packet.

“I don’t know who bought it, but I still have something they don’t - I was there to see them play.”

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

Aww man...I'd have paid more than that (if I could)

I'd store my drugs in it.
