GOD ALMIGHTY there've been rumours since yesterday here, and today supposedly a credible newspaper is going to 'announce' it, or at least confirm the rumour that they are indeed going to play in Greece too. I'm so excited I'm typing this upside down while floating on air. Smiley

That would be amazing, if true. Especially in the current economic climate in your country.

I hope its not asking too much to expect them to have some awareness of what sacrifices people have had to make and to be a bit more realistic about their financial demands in order to make such a show happen.

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath on that aspect!
Two more shows by Dylan and Springsteen are half-confirmed and should be announced in the following days, so its really weird that we get three big shows in the middle of all this financial chaos.

Springsteen?

Dylan will be touring Europe from June 16 to July 17 and a lot of the shows will be in southern and eastern europe, so thats certainly believable enough. There should be an announcement in the next couple of days (the Irish promoters jumped the gun and announced the opening two dates of the tour last week in Cork and Dublin).

If there's a Springsteen show in Greece announced in the next few days and weeks I'll be amazed because I've heard or read absolutely nothing to suggest he's about to play European dates. There are a few whispers about the autumn of 2014 but no earlier than that.

However, neither of the above acts will be looking for a guaranteed payday in the neighbourhood of about €3-3.5 million per show, which is roughly the going rate for a Stones gig. Thats a massive risk for any promoter in Europe outside of places like London, Germany or Scandinavia.

Rolling Stones to Perform Debut Israel Show for Record Sum
WEDNESDAY, 26 FEBRUARY 2014 11:07       BY: JV STAFF

...
The British rock group the Rolling Stones are in the final stages of finalizing their first performance in Israel

The iconic British rock band, The Rolling Stones are in the final stages of finalizing their first performance in Israel. The show is planned to be held on June 10 at Ramat Gan Stadium, according to a source close to the production.

According to Yediot Aharonoth, the legendary band is  discussing the show with Israeli promoters Marcel Avraham and Gadi Oron, and apparently will hold the performance after the group's 2014 European tour.

The Jerusalem Post reported that sources close to the production say that the show will probably be promoted by Shuki Weiss, who has been involved with many of the top international performances of recent years including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Depeche Mode and Metallica and who represents all LiveNation concerts and events in Israel.

The entertainment trade magazine Pollstar reported last week that the Rolling Stones were going to expand their “14 On Fire” tour of Abu Dhabi and the Far East this month into a full-fledged European tour in the spring and summer, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“The National,” a newspaper in Abu Dhabi reported last week that the Rolling Stones’ show there had sold out, with more than 30,000 fans expected to attend.

The Rolling Stones have reportedly been offered $4.5 million for the show in Israel, which is thought to be the largest amount ever offered to an artist to play there. Tickets are expected to cost around 400 shekels ($113).

The band has been one of the most influential rock groups; it was formed in 1962 and has released 25 studio albums.

Reports of the upcoming concert cautiously note that 2013 rumors that the band was planning a performance in Israel for the nation's 65th anniversary turned out to be false, disappointing fans.

Last December, the Stones' bass player Darryl Jones appeared in Israel as part of the Australian super-group the Dead Daisies, which is made up of former members of Guns N’ Roses, the Rolling Stones and INXS. The show was sold-out, and took place at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv.

If the concert materializes, it will be one of the biggest failures of the boycott calls urging international artists not to perform in Israel. Last November, it was reported that several top musicians were planning 2014 shows in Israel, including Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.
