Its not on the 'Woodstock Tapes', the 4-CD of '78 rehearsals which are the only circulating set of tour rehearsals.
This is from the '72 rehearsal tape that they did in Dallas (23rd June, to be exact) the day before they filmed the four shows used on "Ladies & Gentlemen" (many years ago, this was erroneously booted as Exile outtakes)
Greenfield's "STP" book describes a snap decision to tighten the performances on the tour with a mid-tour rehearsal which turned out to be utterly chaotic with barely one song being played properly the whole way through. The recordings bear this out. Great sound, but not an easy listen. They had a go at songs like Torn and Frayed, Ventilator Blues, let It Loose, 32-20 Blues, Key To The Highway, etc.
Sounded like 72, quality wise. T&F, Loving Cup, and Ventilator in their sole live performances sound much worse than the rehearsals, but I can't blame the boys (weird key changes, rhythms, etc.), and I have no complaints about the performances of the tunes they mixed in like Bye Bye Johnny.
