"Lightnin' !" Blows 'Dance Pt.1' out of the water. One of their most underrated songs.
Never really fully appreciated it myself until the 'Sucking in the 70s' remaster came out about a decade or so. This and 'Everything is Turning to Gold' on the same compilation are fantastic - both co-written by Ronnie.
I hate it though that the Stones are often just dismissed as a 'rawk' band - even by their own fans who in some cases can't grasp how brilliantly musically diverse they actually are.
The 'greatest rock n roll band in the world' tag is often very limiting at times. They've even allowed themselves to be restricted to little more than a 'rock anthem' band in concert, as it seems they reckon thats all their fans want.
Pity, because when you go outside that genre, many of the best songs on Stones albums in the last 40 years have been when theyve been musically a bit more adventurous -
Fingerprint File, Memory Motel, Hot Stuff, Miss You, Waiting on a Friend, Slave, Too Much Blood, Feel on Baby (especially the dub version - a true lost gem that should have been on 'Rarities'), Sleep Tonight, Continental Drift, Almost Hear You Sigh, Thru & thru, How can I Stop, Laugh I Nearly Died and several others...
