Thinking about the 50 & Counting Tour after its all over, and there were some cool and fresh ideas the Stones camp did roll out and its worth mentioning these things. Feel free to add to the list!
1. The addition of Mick Taylor, although underused, his presence was a great thrill and it added depth to the Stones history and legacy.
2. The presale for the $85 fan club "Mystery Seats" made it affordable compared to the first 5 shows, where the prices were 'out of control'. I was lucky to get these for 6 shows!
3. The Tongue Pit! Even though I didn't get to be in it, I loved the concept, the design, and for those who could afford it, they got a memorable experience.
4. The use of choirs for YCAGWYW. They sounded excellent and the fact that many of them were schools local to the venues made it a very special event in the lives of the students, teachers, and music departments. I've read a few blogs of the participants and The Stones made an big impression in their lives.
5. Emotional Rescue went from never played to a tour 'war horse'.
6. The surprise gig at the Ecoplex in LA. The 'lottery' for the winners was just a stroke of luck! I define luck as being in the right place at the right time, and those lucky winners got the show of a lifetime!
7. GRRRegory's twitter feed. Although I'm not a big fan of the gorilla, the fact that they tweeted the concert info, pics and setlists shows that the Stones are keeping up with technology. It was a good idea.
