So is it true that there's no Keith at all in this version?

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

Nico Zentgraf is right and by far more reliable

The original song was composed and produced by Mentor Williams, Dobie Gray was just a Singer, the second to record it

Nico is most certainly more reliable, even though theres always a bit of guesswork involved with Stones sessionographies.

Dobie Gray didnt write the song. It would have taken about 30 seconds to have researched that.

It was probably dropped from IORR for royalty reasons (read - 'more money for Mick and Keith'). There was only going to be room for one cover and 'Aint Too Proud To Beg' got the nod. Probably a wise choice as Dobie's cover of Drift Away had been a hit only months earlier.

would've made a great b-side… still hope we get an official release one day… they've done so well on dusting off those old tapes…

I think (is my perception only) that other reason (in addition to those posted above) was that since Humble Pie released it on "Thunderbox" (released February 1974) they decided not to put another cover just released by one of Keith's favourite bands, the stones released IORR on October 1974 and a year later Rod released it on "Atlantic Crossing"
