Good news! for the fact Mick Taylor took part, I still don't think it was right that Brian Jones name wasn't even mentioned at the concert, Mick wore his shroud or dress to mark 1969 but why not mention Brian???? this is BS, the concert in '69 was for Remembering Brian, & I say crap on them, do they think they got so rich & famous & not remember the guy who started the band!!
I sometimes think The Beatles are leaving a better legacy then The Stones.

First guess...an announcement of a special screening in theaters of the Hyde Park shows. If not... a DVD announcement seems very likely. going by the wording...it doesnt sound like its a multi disc box set DVD like the anticipated which is a bit of a shame.

Sometimes? Regardless of our own personal preferences,  it unquestionably pisses all over it.

Quitting at your peak and never reforming has ensured that.

Saying that, I'd personally take 30-odd years of a band past their prime but still touring over having only archive releases and reissues to look forward to since 1970.

You're spot on about the Brian Jones thing. Having been at the first Hyde Park show this year, for all the nods to the original event that they did that day and the following Saturday, to not even acknowledge Brian even in passing was poor form.

Bian was an unspoken presence, shirley, amongst oodles of other presences. Revisiting the Park should presumably have had the Sones musing on 1969/Brian aplenty but I'm not sure it's their style to do the obvious.

Beast Of Burden was sweet (and Ronald -a Brian, of sorts, in different trousers - looked Ramoneishly lovely.

More heel-dragging.

Announcement postponed until tomorrow, it seems.

Obviously getting the wording of a short statement right at 24 hours notice is a lot to expect!

This will be a DVD release of EVERY Emotional Rescue from the tour with bonus footage of Taylor Swift singing "As Tears Go By".

No mention of Mick Taylor OR Brian Jones.

Executive produced by Mick Jagger.  Keith was at lunch.

Can't those paid monkeys get the wording right...alright dammit here:

Following the generosity of the free Glastonbury broadcast we now present a just slightly overpriced Hyde Park DVD/CD/LP package with T-Shirt and Guitar picks (pick not actually from event).

Rejoin us as we leave out "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Sway". Look back with us as Mick Taylor kills time back stage during some of his seminal moments in the bands history.

Finally, dream with us as we imagine what could have been during the much anticipated Brian Jones tribute segment recognizing the time and talent of one of the original members of the Rolling Stones during the sad anniversary of his untimely passing...

Something like that...hey, how much do those swabs get paid for this?

Any minor delay seems fair, especially if they are tweaking the goods to include extra eggs, jollier packaging, meatier bass, higher-volumed slide-guitar perhaps, or even, I suggest, 100 random 'executive versions' of the DVd which turn out to contain only gig footage filmed from behind the wall, amidst paupers and random groovers.

I got it last week.

Stunning box set with two books covering essays and photos relating to the 1969-71 era.

1 cd featuring remaster of previously released material

2 cds consisting of over 30 long lost and very good outtakes from 1969-71 and wonderful alternate versions of released songs which are largely superior to what we're familiar with.

1 cd consisting of the entire performance from that iconic summer 1969 show in England. A show long derided for its lack of musical quality but which with the benefit of a very nice mix, turns out to be actually pretty good. Lots of photos in the book from the show featuring the singer in his distinctive and fetching white outfit backed up by the band's definitive line up.

Ooops...sorry, I thought this was the Dylan thread!

I am one who see no connection with the Hyde Park shows of either 69 or 13 except for the fact they took place in Hyde Park. Might have been classy to mention Brian, but why? They already did that - in 69.

Well right from the initial announcement, the band made plenty of references to the significance of going back to Hyde Park. Whilst Jagger's comment about playing the same setlist obviously went over the heads of some dimwitted fans and journalists who took it at face value, he even re-enacted the 'frock' look for a song or two.

At the gig itself he introduced Taylor by referring to him making his debut at the same venue in 1969, so I dont think it would have been much of a stretch.

The Rolling Stones, with Eagle Rock Entertainment today announce the DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live. Available from 11 November 2013, Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live chronicles the Rolling Stones’ historic and triumphant return to London’s Hyde Park with a 2-hour live concert and highlights package including new and unseen backstage footage.

This summer, over 100,000 delirious fans packed into Hyde Park for two spectacular outdoor concerts to see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood do what they do best. The Stones delivered a five star performance packed full of hits such as ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Brown Sugar’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘Miss You’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’, ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Doom And Gloom’ and ‘Sympathy For The Devil’, as well as one or two surprises.

Mick Jagger said: “It was a great gig…It was beautiful with the sun going down over Hyde Park. I can’t think of a better way celebrate the Rolling Stones’ 50 than doing it on our home patch in front of 100,000 people on a glorious summer night…enjoy it… we certainly did.”

Keith Richards commented: “Coming back to Hyde Park was like a full circle being drawn, and the band were in top form. We thought what could be more appropriate than having a great summer in London!”

From the second the Rolling Stones stepped out onto the stage each night, through to the dazzling firework and pyrotechnic display that heralded the end of the concert, fans old and new were treated to a non-stop, hit after hit performance, which took them through the Stones’ huge back catalogue. Keith Richards wowed the crowds by weaving his charismatic guitar licks with Ronnie Wood’s immense solos, Mick Jagger was on spectacular form, his boundless energy on stage matched by a number of stunning outfit changes, and Charlie Watts the unflappable heartbeat of the band, driving the band on through the set.

Former guitarist Mick Taylor – whose live debut with the Stones took place at the original 1969 Hyde Park concert – joined the band on stage to guest on the bluesy ‘Midnight Rambler’ and on closing track ‘Satisfaction’, whilst long-term live band members Lisa Fischer, Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell, Bernard Fowler, Bobby Keys and Tim Ries all added their inimitable flair and finesse.

The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live is the perfect way for concert-goers to relive their favourite memories from the gigs, and for their fans to see the band back where they truly belong: live on the stage in their hometown.

Nice.

Title comes from a line in 'Loving Cup', in case it looks familiar.

However, whilst the CD contains the same 19 songs that were on the i-tunes release, its a bit underwhelming to say the least that instead of expanding it on the DVD/blu ray, theyve actually chosen to just release 16 of them. Stupid decision.

I have such low expectations from them now that this is exactly what I thought would come out.  It's boring and I'm sure the same usual suspects will come out of the woods and condemn what I have said, but whatever.

They could have expanded this thing in such a big way and probably done a whole set like they did with the 02 and 05/06 tours, but that's too much trouble for Mick and Keith.

So if I'm reading this right, 'Tumbling Dice', 'Emotional Rescue' and 'Paint It Black' are only on the CD and are dropped from the DVD - and 'Happy' appears on the DVD but is replaced on the CD by 'Before they make me run'.

'Paint It Black' was a major highlight of the show I was at and the crowd went nuts for it. Dropping a rarely played song 'Emotional Rescue' is another faux pas. Is there some kind of contract that says that the same bloody songs have to be released on every product? Still not finding any room for 'Beast of Burden' and 'All Down the Line' is disappointing too. They should have extended the DVD blu ray to include every song or as many as possible. Not cut songs OFF it.

Again, our expectation SHOULD be low at this point.  There was plenty of room on that DVD and Blu Ray for everything, but they are getting very picky about performances and flubs and probably didn't want to spend any extra time fixing them in the studio.

I'm not so inspired to buy this.

They could have grabbed me if they had done a Hyde Park/Rolling Stones looking glass project and given us the 1969 show, the story with Brian (Cliff's Notes would have been okay), the 2013 show, extras from the current tour...the whole thing.

But we get THIS.  This is a very Black Crowes kind of move.  They do this to their fan base all the time.

Really, we should have no expectations, just like the song…
wake up, seriously, you're asleep, and you think you're awake…
why do I say that? Because this release shows they are asleep too, you wake up enough to see that, complain and then go right back to sleep…
It's said all the time, buy or don't… we have zero say in what happens… none… I'm not even sure if some of us actually decide if you buy it or not… you may be on cruise control at this point…

the audio was cool… seeing the Glasto stuff bored me… I don't think a DVD does it for me more than one viewing…

Well, almost nothing! Smiley
