Very good. Surprised they didnt invite Regine (his missus) as well. With the right song choice, this could have potential.

I feel a predictable "Last Time" coming on, but maybe not. Let's hope. Great choice in Butler, in any case.

Arcade Fire's Win Butler to Join Rolling Stones in Montreal
Singer will sit in with the rockers Sunday at the Bell Centre

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler will be the latest guest singer to join the Rolling Stones on their "50 and Counting" tour when he sits in this Sunday at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The Stones made the announcement just before noon this morning on Twitter, and Arcade Fire quickly followed suit.

Taylor Swift Joins Rolling Stones for 'As Tears Go By'

So far this spring, the Stones' guests have included Katy Perry on "Beast of Burden," Tom Waits for "Little Red Rooster," Sheryl Crow on "All Down the Line" and Dave Grohl, who sang and played guitar on "Bitch." Earlier this week, Taylor Swift helped Mick Jagger sing "As Tears Go By" in Chicago.

It's anyone's guess what Sunday's selection will be, but Butler has worked before with the Stones singer: Arcade Fire backed Jagger on "The Last Time" in May 2012 when he hosted and was the musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live.

Arcade Fire are currently working on the follow-up album to their 2010 album The Suburbs. The new album, on which the band has collaborated with James Murphy, is expected later this year.

The special guest at the show will be Montreal native Win Butler from Arcade Fire. Win has never played with the Rolling Stones before but performed with Mick Jagger on Saturday Night Live in 2012.

Mick tweeted: “Really pleased Win Butler is joining us in Montreal. I had a great time playing with him on SNL, so I know his Stones duet will be outstanding.”

I have no idea who Arcane Fire are...but if they are invited to be on stage with The Stones...they HAVE to be good, right??   Grin Undecided Undecided Undecided Grin

When I think of Montreal & the Stones, I recall when Luxy managed to get her hat to Mick outside of the hotel he was staying at the day after the show.  I think it was the Licks tour.  She used a photo of him wearing the hat for her profile shot for a long time.  She was so happy about that...Good times...

Sorry. I go to bed early. Have you no fucking shame?

On second thought, it looks like Montreal DID get a taste of Omaha.
Mick T back to MR and Satisfaction?
Really surprised they didn't honor Some Girls on it's 35th anniversary.

And Nellie, thanks for the Luxy reminder.
I'm sure she had the best seat in the house last night.
And when Mick sang "I will be your knight in shining armour.....", she was flashing that

Looking forward to vids of Last Time.

Thats reasonable enough. Not your problem. I just find it hard to imagine that theres no RO member in North America who's still awake at around 11.30 pm ET and that we cant get a setlist posted either in real time as the show progresses or at least after it finishes anymore. It only takes about two minutes.

A bit disappointing compared to how we used to do these things.

I've done enough setlists to qualify for immunity for the rest of the Tour and the NEXT leg.
But I'll be back on my post for Boston, Philly and Hyde Park or at least try.

MONTREAL — Trotting out a set almost entirely made up of vintage hits and fan favourites at Sunday night’s Bell Centre concert, the Rolling Stones pulled off the tightrope-walking feat of providing evidence for both sides in the debate of whether time is still on theirs.

Mostly, the conventional wisdom of recent years held true. Mick Jagger remains a force of nature at almost 70, one whose physical energy onstage can only be looked upon with slack-jawed admiration. Charlie Watts, still with the most dependable left-hand snap in the business, makes everything look so easy. Ronnie Wood really does do almost all the hard work on guitar, with Keith Richards having become a bit of a joke as a musical presence. Richards — stooped and slow-moving, looking like Yoda in a fright wig — is clearly more comfortable now with the ragged Chuck Berry riffs he injects into It’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll than with his spotlight introductions to Gimme Shelter and Paint It, Black, both of which he barely managed.

There can be no doubt that most of the 15,000-plus fans in attendance had made up their mind going in: they howled deliriously at the outset of every song, with the exception of last year’s just-OK Doom and Gloom and One More Shot — questionable inclusions, to be charitable. Even the icy lack of interaction between Jagger and Richards probably went unnoticed by them.

For reasons not everyone can fully grasp, Stones fans need to believe their boys have still got it, that they never sounded better and, most of all, that they’ll always be the world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band. But anyone who has seen the group in their prime would be hard-pressed to argue that Sunday night’s concert was primo Stones. It was mostly respectable, adequately done retreads of their oldies: apart from the aforementioned 2012 tracks, the most recent song on the set list was Start Me Up, released 32 years ago.

Nonetheless, there were enough grin-inducing moments to make the event, at the very least, good fun — if nowhere near worth the $635 top price. (And truly, what live act could be?) The choice of Get Off of My Cloud as an opener, singer Lisa Fischer’s powerhouse vocals on Gimme Shelter, a spry Dead Flowers (by request from Montreal fans via a vote on the band’s website), a winningly joyous take on The Last Time, with special guest Win Butler of Arcade Fire trading vocals with Jagger, a blast of tenor sax from Bobby Keys on Emotional Rescue and Jagger’s hammy audience-baiting on Honky Tonk Women as he prowled the catwalk around the “tongue pit” in front of the stage — these were irresistible.

Moments of pure musicality were rarer in the high-octane nostalgia fest, but a few were there for the taking. Consider Wood’s solo during You Got the Silver or special guest and one-time Stone Mick Taylor — all but impossible to recognize, but still a devastating guitarist — leaving his trademark lyricism at the door and going for speed and stock riffs on Midnight Rambler, but pulling it off nonetheless.

You have to give it them, but it was a squeaker. Fifty is a good, round number. Let’s politely forget the “and counting” threat.

I'm liking this set list. ALOT.

Montreal is NOT Omaha.

No, that would be Anaheim 2 aka Omaheim.
Oh no! not you again

Yeah that is a nice set list

Did the show end after 8 songs?

Pity no one could be arsed to post the whole thing.  Angry

I give up.

If it'll help. I'll copy and paste songs 9 and on from what's already been played on tour and start a thread for every remaining show for the rest of the tour. Because we know how much they shake it up right? War horses couldn't drag me away Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

Don't be an jackass...

I may be putting words in the Great Gazza's mouth...but I think all he was implying is that the previous tour comradery that we always had on these boards has come to something just short of non-existant on this tour. I know the band is showing next to nothing on change-ups...but there used to be a real buzz on here...even when the crowd got"Omaha'd"...

i know i miss it...the average comments per song were always about 6-10...because one or two folks were getting feeds from those at shows...and giving the rest of us real time updates...I blame that stupid grrrolilla and the RS tweets...those have totally taken the excitement away from the old school process...

SCL...I am not trying to start a flamewar or anything like that...and you can even tell me to fuck off (only once, though)...and yes...I, like you am disappointed in the "last 9 songs"...but I also miss the good old days when these boards would light up as the band broke out with SMU...a song i hope to never hear live again...

Not looking for a flamewar. I can go to IORR for that. We don't do that here. One of the many reasons I like this site better. Yes,in this day of social media. You can find out the setlists instantly and even before hand. That's why most people just want to know what songs they changed, did the special guest suck and did MT play CYHMK. I won't tell you to fuck off. Not even once. But call me a jackass as many times as it takes to make yourself feel good............Have a nice day.
