I'm reading some facebook pages today and I cant believe there are people whose cheerleading has made them so blind that they're actually defending this. Revisionist bollocks suggesting that 'The Stones have always been about sharing their stage with up and coming talent, apparently (er, no they fucking havent - and on the few occasions they have done, its been for TV shows or theyve done it with acts with a bit of artistic credibility. Not teenagers whose target market havent even grown pubic hair yet)

Some board regulars of longer vintage may recall a visual atrocity on the last tour which came to be known as 'The Salt Lake Incident'. This unquestionably surpasses it. I cant bring myself to even watch it as I fear that once I do it can never be unseen.

The incident was a train wreck performance of "Rain Fall Down" from the gig in question which was shown live on the American Music Awards.

Fans (voodoopug especially) were traumatised for weeks afterwards.

"Sway" sounded pretty nice.  Getting better and better each time they play it...even the band is tighter:

Bitch - Please ponder that he/the singer/the song-writers AIN'T crying; is not going to a funeral/cemetery, in order to avoid being brought down. He/the singer/the song-writers/someone is contemplating the idea that love 'strutting out'. Also he/the singer/the song-writer may - by 'broke me up' - may mean laughing rather than upset/damage.

All Stones lyrics seem, to me, splendidly nuanced and layered and multi-meaninged, and become more so with age.
That's one reason why, to me, it's more than interesting for the RSs to explore 'As Tears Goes By' with Taylor.

Gazza ... I really can't deal with Taylor Swift normally. When I heard she was the guest ... I literally almost vomited. I never cared for her at all ... and I think she is manufactured, overrated, and "weak/lame".


However ... I at first refused to watch it... BUT eventually my curiousity got the best of me and I decided to hit play and do myself in ...

Gazz ... I gotta say ... it was "Gulp" ...not too shabby and I actually stomached it. It was at least done tastefully, and for the first time, I actually could listen to Taylor Swift. Look.... Ok,,I swallowed hard and forced myself to watch the two minute condensed version that rs.com allowed us to see.

Some of it is ok. Some of it is shit. Musically it could have been worse, but visually it's toe-curling.

She seems a nice, inoffensive kid and its nothing personal against her (or any of the other guests who have been ill-chosen), but she shouldn't be on a stage with the Stones. The buck stops with them. No one else.

There's no point to it. The argument that some cheerleaders are parroting that they're reaching out to a younger audience is nonsensical and negated by the fact that a) younger people cant afford their tickets, b) younger people cant see them on TV because the greedy insecure bastards wont allow hardly any of their Glasto performance to be televised in case the wider public think they sound like shit (which they don't, oddly enough - their shows have been really good), c) theyre not going to suddenly start buying their tickets because they announce at 6 hours notice that a guest artist is going to perform one song with them and d) they're not going to get turned on to the Stones by the meagre scraps and heavily edited clips that they're allowing on their You Tube channel.

Just as well rs.com still wont let me post on their facebook page.
