I think it's time I stay off the Boards.
I'm about to see the Band for the first time since 2006.
I've waited a long time and never thought I'd see them again.
I'm very excited and I'm not going to let the RO, IORR and Shidoobee nitpickers ruin this for me.
This will NEVER be the 1969-72 Stones. Keith ain't EVER going to play the way he did in his heyday.
Lady J -
You've probably gone into board-hiberation by now, to avoid silly sausages (like yourself) who grumble-grumble.
I'm amused by the idea that you started loving the Stains in 1973 and yet consider that 1969-1972 was their heyday.
I suspect they sound oodles better live now than back then. In 1972 they hadn't learnt to be funky or to have the degree of swing which they have now and barely anyone moved an inch on stage except MJ, and other such things. Back then it was trebley solos (which would sound old-fashioned now) and not much weaving. And I find it hard to believe that back then Charles' drums were mic-ed up anything like as lovely-ly as now (wait until you hear them - blooming exquisite, to my mind). They are more solid as a band now, less pretentious, less up themselves, with a richer sound, and so on...
Long may they adopt and extend their grooves.
